Position Description

This role is an internal contributor to the wound components team. The team’s focus is the design and development of Motors, Resolvers, LVDTs and RVDTs for use in the aerospace and defense markets.

Senior Engineers engage with customers, internal leads, and Subject Matter Experts (SME) for research and development projects, customer requirements development, proposals for new opportunities, design and development, initial prototype to production transition, and production support.

Essential Functions

• Review customer specifications and derive critical design requirements, engage with customers on specification development
• Development of new design concepts for customer applications using 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks
• Development of performance models using analytical tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, MathCAD, or JMAG
• Validation of performance models through test and data analysis
• Cost estimation for new designs
• Development of design proposals (technical writing)
• Support production activities as needed

Technical aptitude and in depth understanding of:

• 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis, 2D or 3D
• Tolerance stackup analysis and GD&T
• Tooling and fixture design for production consistency
• Statistical data analysis
• Understanding of manufacturing and design trade-offs (practical implementation of designs), design to cost, design for manufacturability

Required Experience

Education & Experience

• Minimum of 5 years’ engineering experience in new product development working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry
• BS in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Equivalent
• Must be legally authorized to work in the US, visa sponsorship not available.
