    Position Description

    This role is an internal contributor to the wound components team. The team’s focus is the design and development of Motors, Resolvers, LVDTs and RVDTs for use in the aerospace and defense markets.

    Level 2 Engineers are responsible for contributing to the design and development of Motors, Resolvers, RVDTs, and LVDTs for use in the aerospace and defense markets. This position will gain an extensive understanding of the electromagnetic behavior and optimization of these devices, an educational background in these devices is a benefit. Taking cues from more senior team members, you will be responsible for assisting in the development of position sensors and motors for both customer funded projects and internal projects. This work includes 3D modeling, drawing creation, tolerance stack-ups, structural analysis, electro-magnetic analysis, and report and presentation creation.


    Essential Functions

    • Development of new design concepts for customer applications using 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks
    • Aid in the development of performance models using analytical tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, MathCAD, or JMAG
    • Validation of performance models through test and data analysis
    • Cost estimation for new designs
    • Development of design proposals (technical writing)
    • Support production activities as needed

    Technical aptitude and understanding of:

    • 3D modeling software such as SolidWorks
    • Statistical data analysis
    • Other CAE tools, such as MATLAB or ANSYS
    • Tolerance stackup analysis and GD&T
    • Understanding of manufacturing and design trade-offs (practical implementation of designs), design to cost, design for manufacturability

    Required Experience

    Education & Experience

    • Minimum of 2 years’ engineering experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aerospace industry
    • BS in Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or Equivalent
    • Must be legally authorized to work in the US, visa sponsorship not available.
