    POSITION: STAFF BUSINESS DATA ANALYST

    LOCATION: REMOTE WITHIN UNITED STATES

    ABOUT THE TEAM:

    As part of the IT group, we are responsible for executing our enterprise data strategy which emphasizes data management maturity, fosters a robust data culture, and architects a best-in-class enterprise data platform.  We have the ultimate goal to provide trusted data and insights at scale which enable corporate and functional data-driven decision-making. We are fueled by organic innovation, internal collaboration and adoption of data visualization, data management, reporting automation, AI/ML and integration tools. We leverage best practices and alignment through our Enterprise Data Community to deliver speed to insight, scale, control and enablement. The team is distributed across the United States and India and is composed of data engineers, data analysts, visualization developers, and infrastructure specialists

    Zscaler is building a data platform to serve as the single source of truth for all data and reporting needs of its cross-functional business teams. The ideal candidate for this role will be someone with a passion for working with key business teams like Customer Support, Product Support, Finance, Product and data in a SaaS environment, deploying and improving reporting and processes, and working cross-functionally with business and technical teams to understand and execute on data and insights needs for these functions.

    MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE:

    • Strong SQL and query writing in Postgres/MySQL/Snowflake
    • Data Modeling (Conceptual, logical, Dimensional)
    • Expertise with stakeholder management, requirements gathering, source systems discovery, analytics problem identification and solution designing
    • Expertise in data visualization with Tableau and storytelling with data to generate insights
    • Strong experience with Salesforce Service & Sales Cloud required with deep understanding of relevant objects and data models

    RESPONSIBILITIES/WHAT YOU’LL DO:

    • Be a trusted business partner to our customer support and operations team. Partner with them to understand data needs, KPIs, metrics and data insights and execute on enterprise data roadmap.
    • Collaborate with the key business stakeholders and users and understand ongoing functional and technical data requirements for these business teams and develop datasets to meet those requirements
    • Develop and maintain data dictionary and metric definitions for multiple business functions and technical datasets, metrics, and KPIs and review them regularly for changes and updates 
    • Design Tableau dashboards for insights and reporting when necessary 
    • Conduct data enablement sessions for these business teams by communicating new datasets, metrics, KPIs, and processes
    • Business Process Document(s) for key business process teams,  processes, systems, integrations, data flows & models, business rules & transformations

      

    WHO YOU ARE:

    • A passion for building data platform and developing insights solutions for business teams to drive efficiencies and data-informed decisions
    • Passionate about and focused on customer outcomes with the ability to translate business needs into functional and technical data requirements for the business and other data platform teams.
    • Proficient in leveraging data to develop actionable insights and story-telling to drive business impact
    • Proficient in performing source system discovery to understand the key process and data generated in the system and creating data mapping to ingest the data into the enterprise data warehouse platform
    • Drives data literacy and enablement within the organization by building and utilizing data and analytics tools to enable improved understanding of data assets impacting business decisions
    • Experience with SaaS organization and data is a considerable plus.

    QUALIFICATIONS/YOUR BACKGROUND:

    • 8+ years of experience with data initiatives (data and systems analysis, story-telling, and data engineering) with a focus on reporting, analytics and insights and process automation translating the business needs into data requirements
    • Deep understanding of analytics frameworks and methodologies, data visualization principles, source systems/business applications (Salesforce, Hadoop, Big Data Architecture), processes, and metrics
    • Proven track record of executing data roadmap for support groups by translating business data needs into functional and technical requirements for the data engineering team
    • Advanced SQL skills and proficiency in visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker
    • Strong experience collaborating with business stakeholders and users to understand, document, and implement data & analytics needs
    • Experience implementing data governance framework and deliverables is desired
    • Experience with industry-standard ETL tools (Matillion, Fivetran, etc) preferred but not required

    Additional Information

    The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,250 to $185,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, location and relevant education or training.
