Job Description

Reporting to the SVP, Finance, and CAO, the Vice President (VP) of Global Tax is responsible for overseeing Zscaler’s global taxation team and leading the next phase of tax strategies and tax compliance at Zscaler. The candidate must be a leader, have strong experience in direct, indirect, domestic, and international tax strategies, compliance, and planning activities, be detail-oriented, have strong technical and communication skills, and be hands-on. The position requires management capabilities to communicate with and educate finance and non-finance personnel on complex tax issues that may arise due to Zscaler’s ongoing domestic and international operations as well as from merger and acquisition transactions that Zscaler may undertake in the future. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and oversee the taxation teams in U.S and India 

• Lead the quarterly tax reporting to the Audit Committee

• Perform time to time assessment of Zscaler’s tax strategies and an annual tax planning assessment to the Audit Committee  

• Enhance the tax research of complex global tax matters 

• Oversee and lead the income tax provision on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, domestic & international

• Provide high quality, professional day-to-day guidance on all tax matters with solid risk management practices

• Develop and lead compliance, tax filings with domestic and international direct and indirect tax reporting requirements 

• Project manage company-wide engagement with Zscaler’s outside tax consulting firms for United States, India and all other international locations

• Help identify performance improvement opportunities including Tax Technology recommendations, implementation, and automation

• Ensure policies and procedures are adhered to as tax regulatory changes occur to maintain compliance

• Work closely with external auditors, legal counsel, tax preparers, and third-party accounting/tax consulting firms

• Work closely with the accounting and finance teams on accounting/finance projects as required

Qualifications

• Leadership skills, excellent written and verbal skills, and demonstrated ability to present complex tax issues to management

• A mix of a large publicly listed software company and a Big 4 public accounting firm is highly desired (at least 5 years in a public accounting firm tax experience)

• Recognized as a tax expert related to domestic and international tax issues 

• Ability to lead complex tax projects which require influence and implementation across business groups and functions

• Attention to detail, organized and thorough with a desire for continuous improvement

• Must be a "self-starter" and a leader of domestic and international tax teams with a can-do attitude and a serious desire to have a positive impact on our company

• Strong day-to-day project management skills 

• Strong organizational, research, verbal, and written communication skills are essential

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team, yet function well with independent responsibilities

• Bachelor's or ideally Master’s from an accredited college/university in the area of taxation; with a CPA or an advanced degree in taxation required
