POSITION: TECH EDITOR - TECHNICAL PUBLICATIONS (SHARED SERVICES) LOCATION: US-PACIFIC ONLY (REMOTE CANDIDATES IN OTHER LOCATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED)

A Technical Editor works with technical writers, multimedia producers, and other technical editors to help craft and refine technical documentation, customer-facing technical communications, and help videos (i.e., engaging with writers to refine online help articles, release notes, and on-screen text as well as engaging with Product Management, Cloud Ops, and Engineering teams create effective communications for our customers).

To do this you will build strong working relationships with the cross-functional product development areas of the company. You must have a hands-on approach to the technology and to the products being documented. You will help enhance and expand the current documentation to provide a variety of learning tools for our customers.

RESPONSIBILITIES/WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Effectively collaborate with technical writers and multimedia producers to translate technical information into clear, concise, and effective documentation and media for technical audiences. • Edit post-sales online technical documentation (i.e., help articles, release notes, etc.) as well as UI text (i.e., UI tooltips, labels, error messages, etc.) for use by our UX and Engineering teams. • Apply editing best practices for translated technical documentation. • Work cross-functionally with SMEs in the Cloud Operations, Support, and Product Management teams. • Assist in defining the standards, style, and terminology used within our corporate style guide.  

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS/YOUR BACKGROUND

• 3+ years of experience in technical editing • Bachelor’s degree in technical writing, communications, or a related field (i.e., technical writing/communications certifications are also acceptable). • Excellent oral, written, analytic, and organizational skills. • Detail orientated, and able to think and edit in context, while keeping the target audience in mind. • Self-motivated and effective in a fluid environment. • Hands-on experience with JIRA and/or Confluence. • Must possess creativity and a sense of humor. • Able to work independently and as part of a team.  

DESIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• Experience in content editing, developmental editing, and copyediting for online documentation, help video scripts, and customer-facing communications.  • Experience working in an Agile environment. • Experience in network and/or cloud security is a plus. • Experience with web-based or mobile products. • Hands-on experience with HTML5/CSS.
