    Job Description

    About the Role:

    We are looking for a Vice President or Senior Vice President to join our fast growing engineering organization and be responsible for the strategy that will determine the direction of software delivery and the operations ensuring a smooth roll out of our roadmap. In this highly visible position, you will report to the CTO and partner with all the technology and product executives as well as GTM and business stakeholders across Zscaler. You will lead a small organization of Technical leaders and Program Managers focused on people strategy, hiring strategy, programs & portfolio management, M&A execution and overall planning and budget management for Technology.

    A successful candidate for this role will be a technologist and an executive with experience managing fast-paced engineering organizations, who is a self-aware, dynamic, collaborative, and transparent leader with a positive vision for success. You must have the ability to take ownership, work with tight timelines, and deliver with a customer first focus while influencing across the enterprise. We are looking for someone who can balance priorities, collaborate with executives, and positively motivate teams in a high growth, agile environment while supervising key performance indicators. You must be an excellent written communicator and be able to align and influence senior technical leaders and architects towards a cohesive strategy. This role requires you to be able to act on behalf of the technology leadership team as well as be a sounding board and coach for all of technology leadership.

    Responsibilities / Key Focus Areas:

    • Partner with other leaders in technology and engineering organization to define and socialize the multi-year strategy to support our next chapter of growth, focused on improving scale, experience and efficiency
    • Lead the implementation of Portfolio, Program & Vendor Management working in partnership with the technology leadership team
    • Manage business expectations, drive planning and prioritize resource allocation based on the company's vision and growth strategies
    • Manage all internal software spend and formulate strategies to drive efficiencies
    • Lead the strategy & execution of operational focused programs and projects
    • Lead, guide and manage the organization’s vendor usage and costs
    • Influence and provide specific guidance for the development of new or improved processes aimed at enabling scale and increasing efficiencies
    • Champion efficiencies, automation and the use of data to measure, track and make decisions
    • Help the leadership team, hire, develop, and retain extraordinary talent to scale and meet business demands while developing talent to ensure a durable succession plan
    • Develop strategies and implement roadmaps to make technology and engineering execution successful and world class cloud engineering organization
    • Define, manage, and report on key performance indicators that measure the organization’s performance against corporate objectives

    Qualifications:

    • 15+ years of progressively increasing responsibility roles in software engineering, SaaS or systems development environment
    • 10+ years experience leading strategy and operations teams with a track record of success with strategic and complex projects or 5+ years as an engineering executive and organizational leader
    • Change management expert; able to bring others along a journey of change
    • Expert level knowledge of the Portfolio & Program Management function and how it can best serve product and technical delivery teams in IT spanning Infrastructure, Applications, Data & Architecture
    • Experience leading teams in a fast-paced Agile software delivery environment
    • Demonstrable experience coaching and developing teams to meet career objectives
    • Hands-on experience developing and successfully rolling out internal processes which create or strengthen organizational and team efficiencies.
    • Skilled in how to best provide transparency, on-going status and portfolio management
    • Expert at collaborating and building trusted partnerships across engineering, product and other business stakeholders
    • Excellent executive presence and communication skills - clarity of communication, ability to build contagious positive energy focussed on outcome driven metrics.
    • Able to promote creative thinking beyond the boundaries of existing industry practices
    • Understand how to connect, listen, and engage at all levels of the organization in order to create loyalty, trust, and a following
    • Holds self and others accountable; able to inspire people to go beyond and grow

    Additional Information:

    The base salary range for this full-time position is $220,000 to $300,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Zscaler’s salary ranges are benchmarked and are determined by role and level. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations and could be higher or lower based on a multitude of factors, including job-related skills, experience, location and relevant education or training.
