    Job Summary

    This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

    Job Description

    • Perform installation and maintenance of electrical wiring systems and equipment.
    • Apply knowledge of electrical principles, formulas, and electronics to complete repairs.
    • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and drawings to determine placement of electrical systems.
    • Use and maintain various hand and power tools required for electrical work and testing.
    • Troubleshoot various electrical systems and equipment to diagnose the cause of malfunctions.

    Qualifications

However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Electrician ~ without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties which include installing and repairing electrical wiring systems, distribution panels, and outlet boxes; measuring, cutting, and bending conduits; inserting, splicing, and connecting wires to fixtures, outlets, switches, receptacles, and Power Source. I can work from building plans, blueprints, and wiring diagrams to determine the placement of panels, boxes, wiring, fixtures, and other related electrical systems. I have some knowledge of electrical principles and formulas, including some understanding of electronics required to complete inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of electrical systems and equipment. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort - The electrician must perform his or her duties while using ladders, scaffolds, and in hard to reach areas. Work involves frequent standing, stooping, climbing, bending and kneeling, and occasionally in cramped and awkward positions. Long periods of standing, bending, or kneeling are often required. Required to lift and handle objects weighing 20 pounds; often lifts and moves heavier objects with the assistance of other workers, lifting devices and aids such as movable tables or jacks. Working Conditions - Work is performed inside and outside, and is usually dirty, dusty, and greasy; on scaffolding or cranes at heights of 30 or more feet; and in close quarters such as manholes, or attics. Required to make repairs and installations outside in bad weather and work areas that are noisy. Subject to injury from falling, electrical Shock, burns and rotary devices such as electrical motors.
