JOB DESCRIPTION
Review Inspector General Action Request (IGARs) pertaining to assistance or allegations of impropriety.
Identify issues, and allegations in order to determine if appropriate for IG involvement.
Conduct systemic, special-issue oriented inspections individually or as a member of inspection team as directed by the deputy or command IG.
Determine nature of questions to ask and research standards for records and areas inspected to plan the appropriate methods for investigation.
Conduct complex and potentially sensitive investigations, investigative inquiries and preliminary analysis inquiries, directed by the commanding general, or higher headquarters authority, to include DAIG or Department of Defense (DoD) IG.
Develop an investigative plan which encompasses all aspects of the investigative or inquiry process, including the adaptation of appropriate investigative methods, techniques and procedures.
Perform teaching and training as both an embedded (inspections, assistance, and investigations) and independent function.
Apply current knowledge of laws and regulations to Inspector General Investigations and/or inspections.
Present verbal inspector general presentations of findings to a variety of audiences, such as senior officials, internal and external stakeholders.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes conducting complex and/or potentially sensitive investigations, investigative inquiries, and/or preliminary analysis inquiries; preparing an investigative plan, which encompasses all aspects of the investigative or inquiry process; gathering evidence in a variety of different mediums, such as documents, data, and interviews; interpreting applicable laws or regulations related to the inspection; and formulating recommendations for corrective action in accordance with applicable regulations and organizational guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (NH-02/GS-11).
