This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in the Department of Defense to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

    Job Description

    • Ensure work assignments are distributed and performed in a timely manner by employees; distribute and balance the workload among employees.
    • As a Desk Sergeant, serve as initial point of contact for all in person or telephone communications with the public, concerning law enforcement matters which occur on an assigned shift.
    • Coordinate desk operations with prior and succeeding shifts and ensure that incomplete actions are fully understood.
    • Work in a dual dispatch capacity; monitor communications with mobile patrol units, access control points, and pass directions and information to Police Officers and Security Guards.
    • Provide law enforcement services within the jurisdictional boundaries of the installation; respond to and investigate emergency calls, and cases of interpersonal violence.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) conducting Police Operation functions; utilizing knowledge of law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques to determine applicable charges and violations; 2) issuing citations; obtaining and protecting evidence; 3) interviewing witnesses and/or conduct preliminary investigations on criminal cases. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).
