    Job Description

    • Examine equipment/material for defective parts and functional operation.
    • Perform complex searches of equipment records, specifications and manufacturer manuals to identify similarities or differences in similar items in order to properly catalog and identify.
    • Compare specifications such as technical orders, catalog drawings and schematics against shipping documents.
    • Examine and identify items such as equipment and parts using references to establish identification.
    • Move material to pre-designated locations based on receiving documents.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Materials Examiner and Identifier without more than normal supervision to include: examining and identifying common categories of materials and returned equipment to include newly procured, fabricated or repaired items and interpreting documentation to make determinations of material coding. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Other Than Blueprint Reading) Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Work Practices (Including Keeping Things Neat, Clean, and in Order) Physical Efforts: Work requires active physical effort including extensive walking, bending, stooping and pushing and pulling heavy material. May require heavy lifting, up to 50 pounds. Working Conditions: Works inside on concrete floors in adequately lighted and ventilated areas but may be called upon to work out of doors in all kinds of weather. May be subject to cuts, bruises, abrasions and scrapes in moving or handling materials. May be subject to hazards of working close to moving equipment. The incumbent is required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for this position.
