    Job Description

    • Apply various types of coating materials to surfaces to meet specified requirements.
    • Use appropriate equipment/methods to prepare surfaces for painting.
    • Assign work based on supervisor's instructions.
    • Inspect work for compliance with specifications.
    • Require tiring and uncomfortable positions to complete work.
    • Enforce all housekeeping rules for safety of workers.
    • Utilize a variety of painting equipment, such as spray guns, paint pots, and paint booths to complete the coating process.
    • Prepare thinners/primers coating evenly to avoid paint runs, skips, etc.
    • Apply materials to surfaces to meet or match texture, decorative, and thickness requirements.
    • Required Demonstrate proper work methods in preparing surfaces for painting.
    • Utilize appropriate methods to prevent painting of portions not requiring painting.
    • Order stock, tools, and materials associated with the trade.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to lead or supervise of an PAINTER LEADER. 1) Painting on surfaces; 2) Applying coating materials with various techniques; AND 3) Ensuring coating finish meets surface protection requirements.- Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating. To meet the basic eligibility, you must receive at least two points on the screen-out element indicated above and must have an average of two points on all the job elements listed below. Your application will be further evaluated to determine if you meet the best qualified cut-off for referral to the selecting official. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. Ability To Lead or Supervise Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Dexterity and Safety Knowledge of Materials Practices in Construction, Structure Technical Practices (Theoretical, Precise, Artistic) Physical Effort Employee is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently handles materials and equipment weighing up to ten pounds. Occasionally handles items in excess of forty pounds. Working Conditions Work is mainly done inside in a shop environment. Dirt, paint spray and fumes are usually present. Frequently exposed to cuts and bruises. Required to wear safety equipment which is heavy and uncomfortable.
