About the Position: Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment NTE 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Provide instructions and specifications associated with surface preparation, painting, and marking of vehicles, weapons systems, and related items.
Interpret and implement OSHA safety laws and regulations.
Advise subordinates on specifications applicable to the various weapon systems and components which are to be painted.
Ensure workers use and maintain surface preparation tools and equipment such as sandblasting, chemical cleaning, hand sanding, etc. to accomplish mission requirements.
Initiate disciplinary actions, changes in standards, and recommendations for promotion or reassignment of subordinates.
Provide guidance to subordinates on trade practices for chemical cleaning and stripping, sandblasting, surface preparation (hand sanding and protective masking) spray painting and/or powder coating.
Determine training needs of subordinates and arranges for its accomplishment.
Ensure safety requirements required by regulation or manufacturers' instructions are followed.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Painter Supervisor without more than normal supervision. I have the ability to perform common duties of a Painter Supervisor to include overseeing surface preparation, chemical cleaning and stripping, sandblasting, marking/stenciling and/or spray painting. I can instruct and review work of lower graded employees in sandblasting and painting techniques. Manage workload to meet mission requirements. I work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed. - Failure to meet this Screen Out Element will result in an ineligible rating.
