Develops and leads the Process Safety Management Program in accordance with federal regulations and safety plans. Provides authoritative engineering oversight for munitions and contractor operations and may halt work that presents imminent danger.
Provides advanced technical expertise to support the Safety Chief in executing the Safety Engineering Program. Applies broad knowledge across engineering disciplines and coordinates with senior counterparts on complex system safety matters.
Directs or oversees accident and incident investigations, ensuring thorough documentation, causal analysis, and corrective actions. Leads modernization of safety programs through automation and maintains expertise in current automated systems.
Leads advanced safety program development for the Safety Chief. Serves as the primary contact for Hazard Abatement and Issues Tracking, providing status updates, identifying concerns, and recommending proactive hazard prevention strategies.
Directs the development and revision of safety policies. Reviews higher level directives, manuals, and regulations to ensure alignment with established safety engineering principles and supports consistent, compliant implementation.
Degree: Engineering. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET, or a Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
