    Program Description:

    This competitive program will span 10 weeks, beginning June 3rd and ending August 9th. This is a full time opportunity that is Monday - Friday with a competitive salary. As a Summer Intern, you will get the chance to contribute as a member of the team to which you are assigned and have responsibilities similar to a first year professional. Citi utilizes the Summer Internship Program as a primary source for hiring full-time professionals, and strongly encourages all those interested in full-time roles to apply.

    Selected interns will be placed on an assignment within one of the groups detailed below. *The below list of groups are subject to change

    Internships in Finance:

    The Citi Finance Buffalo Division is comprised of various global functions, including: Product Control, Treasury, North America Controllers, Balance Sheet Substantiation, and the Financial Projects Group. The Finance Division is the guardian and communicator of key financial information and controls. As a partner with Citi’s various businesses, Citi Finance drives business franchise and legal entity decisions on capital planning, liquidity, budgeting, tax, strategic direction and policy management.

    Internships in Operations:

    Institutional Clients Group (ICG)

    Citi's Institutional Clients Group is comprised of diverse, talented professionals globally located in more than 100 countries and territories, collectively representing an unparalleled international network of financial skills and capabilities serving targeted clients. Our clients are top corporations, financial institutions and governments in countries around the world and our mission is to help them achieve their goals. We do so by providing strategic, financing and operational insights and executing tailored product/service solutions, both across our borders and domestically. The ICG responds to clients' changing needs through its long-established relationship coverage approach that provides client solutions utilizing all of Citi's relevant capabilities, including the broadest possible access to financial markets globally. No other institution can match our combination of global insights, client relationship management services, geographic reach and local and cross-border product expertise

    There are 3 parts of ICG located in Buffalo, Information Services Group, Markets Operations and Treasury and Trade Solutions:

    Information Services Group (ISG)

    • ISG delivers authoritative, timely reference data to the firm through service-oriented Operations teams and state-of-the-art technologies. Throughout the entire client’s business engagement, ISG creates and maintains accurate, up-to-date data by capitalizing on the synergy between our operational services and *MC platforms to ensure the accurate, timely set up and distribution of client, account, security, pricing and corporate action data.

    Markets Operations

    • Markets Operations supports and manages the settlement, processing and accounting departments for Global Markets. Citi offers a wide range of products including Commodities, Equities, Foreign Exchange and Prime Finance. Markets Operations is responsible for clearing, settling and booking securities business using a timely, cost efficient, scalable and controlled process. The key focus of Markets Operations is to continue to enable new products, new business and ever expanding volumes, whilst eliminating errors and avoiding losses. Our strategy and objective is to deliver a complete transformation in Operations’ capabilities driven by seven key enablers; Risk Mitigation, People & Organization, Technology, Scalability & Capacity, New Products & Business Growth, Location & CSC, Process Change and Efficiency. Markets Operations groups represented in Buffalo include Cash Securities Operations, Margins & Valuations Operations, Asset Servicing, Middle Office Trade Support, Foreign Exchange Operations and Credit Risk Management Services.

    Treasury and Trade Solutions (TTS)

    • Citi's Treasury and Trade Solutions meets the complex needs of the world's leading organizations with a breadth of services, solutions and global expertise that is unmatched in the industry. TTS provides innovative solutions to address the requirements of corporations from all sectors. Solutions include payment mechanisms (Funds Transfer, ACH, Disbursements) and receivables offerings that service financial institutions, global corporates, and public sector clients. These are done using innovative technology under a tightly controlled environment to mitigate risk. TTS groups in Buffalo include Payment Engineering, Sanctions Compliance, Payment Processing, Client Operations, Billing, Accounting/Proofing controls, and Public Sector Lockbox.

    Summer interns are integrated as full-time team members and undertake responsibilities within most aspects of their team. Additionally, interns will be responsible for ad-hoc projects throughout the course of the summer, which they will be required to present on at the end of the program. Additionally, there will be a calendar of events developed to create networking opportunities with senior leaders within Citi.

    Successful Summer Interns represent a broad spectrum of disciplines but share many common traits. They include:

    • Record of achievement (academic and otherwise)
    • Strong work ethic; driven to succeed
    • Effective written and oral communication skills
    • Strong analytical skills
    • High energy level
    • Experience in Microsoft Word & Excel

    Qualifications:

    • All of our Summer Interns are actively pursuing their bachelor degree or master degree and will graduate between December 2019 and June 2020.
    • Bachelor or Master Degree/All disciplines are welcome
    • 3.3 or higher
    • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
