  • Responsibilities

    Operations roles within Northern Trust will primarily work with our Corporate & Institutional Services group within Investment Operations Outsourcing, Transfer Agency, the Investment Management Liaison Group, and as Custody Representatives. Other Operations roles work with our Global Services teams in Banking and Loan Operations, Foreign Exchange, and Securities Lending or Securities Pricing. These roles are middle and back office operations positions that serve our clients utilizing a variety of resources and applications, providing world-class service to those we partner with.

    The key responsibilities of the role include:

    • Acts as the primary contact for investment management firms on domestic and/or international trade communication and settlement issues relating to client accounts held at the Bank
    • Coordinates daily with investment managers regarding client account activities. Informs managers of any exceptions and proposed steps for resolutions
    • Identifies service efficiency enhancements, process improvements, and service delivery using creative and proactive measures
    • Researches and resolves processing inquiries and prepares correcting entries including reversals and rejects
    • Expected to use some initiative but refer more complex problems to supervisors/experts
    • Works effectively as a team member but also independently
    • Knowledgeable of the core aspects of the job
    • Working towards becoming proficient in all areas of the job
  • Qualifications

    Knowledge/Skills:

    • Good verbal and written communication skills are required
    • Basic securities industry knowledge is preferred
    • Analytical and problem solving skills are required
    • Organizational skills are required to manage conflicting priorities and multi-task functions in a fast-paced team environment

    The successful candidate will benefit from having:

    • A College or University degree in Finance and/or some relevant work experience is preferred.
    • This role is targeted to start in June/July 2020; therefore Spring 2020 graduation date is preferred.
    • Related Industry qualification/or studying towards, is preferred.

    Once you have completed all 3 stages a Recruiter will review all the information you have provided and contact you if you have been selected for an in person interview.
