Join us for our 2023 Spring Financial Research Data Analyst Externship program and immerse yourself in all things Bloomberg Data. Over the course of four days, you’ll have an opportunity to gain exposure to Bloomberg’s Equity data and research products, covering everything from financial instruments to Terminal functionality, while working from our New York high-tech, high-rise building. If chosen, you’ll gain access to Bloomberg leadership teams, professional and technical development training, and priority access to our 2024 Summer Internship programs within our Financial Research Data Analyst Team.

At Bloomberg, our products are fueled by powerful information. We provide portfolio managers with real-time information on companies’ financial performance to assist in profitability analysis, and to assess the risk and return of their investments. Buy-side & sell-side equity analysts use our data to create valuation models that provide stock recommendations and target prices and ultimately  assess the viability of investing in a company.    

As part of the Financial Research Data Analyst Externship program, you’ll have the opportunity to:   

• Receive exposure to our transparent culture, open environment, within Bloomberg Data, Bloomberg Intelligence and other business functions  
• Develop your market sector knowledge and learn from industry experts 
• Participate in a case study related to the financial markets utilizing Excel and the iconic Bloomberg Terminal
• Engage with our Bloomberg Corporate Philanthropy team and learn more about why we say “we work on purpose” 
• Enhance your professionalism  and interpersonal skills through networking events and professional development activities

At the end of your Bloomberg Externship, you will have expanded your professional network, deepened your understanding of the financial markets, gained exposure to data analysis in research, learned professional skills and interview techniques. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to secure a 2024 Summer Internship at Bloomberg.  

**Who can apply?   **

• Our 2023 Financial Research Data Analyst Externship is open to students graduating between December 2024 and June 2025 who identify as Black, Hispanic/Latinx, Native American, and/or first-generation college students.    
• You must be actively working towards a bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and be available to attend for the duration of the in-person program, which runs from May 23- 26, 2023 in our New York City offices.
• You must be legally authorized to work full-time in the United States and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. 
• You must be open to 2024 summer internship opportunities and available to commit to the 10-week program running from June to August 2024, from our New York City, NY location.

**What do we look for?  **

• Demonstrated project, work experience, or coursework that indicate your interest and knowledge in the financial markets and working with financial data
• Knowledge of accounting principles and interpreting financial statements 
• Extracurricular activities in addition to coursework  
• Effective written and verbal communication skills   
• Aptitude for problem-solving, plus the commitment to think creatively
• Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Excel
• Demonstrated interest or project/work experience using one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, SQL, etc.).
