    Internship Program Overview

    Raymond James is the place where good people grow and nowhere is that better demonstrated than in our internship program. During the 10-week immersive experience, you will engage with and implement the firm's core values through our five guiding behaviors. Featuring a comprehensive orientation, onsite and remote training sessions in professional development, networking events, a speaker series, and volunteer opportunities, you will be equipped with knowledge of the business and culture to help you build relationships and develop skillsets for the internship and your future.

    To be eligible for the summer 2024 internship program, you must be a junior or senior standing candidate pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in business or finance with a graduate date of May 2025. Most positions are based in St. Petersburg with other available locations depending on company need.

    Candidates who successfully complete the internship program have the opportunity to transition into a full-time role at Raymond James after graduation.

    Department Overview

    The Insurance Solutions group of Raymond James provides an industry-leading platform of comprehensive protective planning strategies for financial advisors to help achieve their clients' unique needs. Our team of specialists focuses on delivering expertise and support in the realms of annuities, life, long-term care, and disability insurance products, all offered by financially strong, preferred carriers. From sales to product management and operations, the Insurance Solutions team assists from start to finish, including but not limited to case design & marketing, licensing, new business processing, and servicing. This internship will be supporting the product management team across all product areas.

    Job Summary

    Raymond James Insurance Solutions is seeking an undergraduate or master's degree candidate to join our team as a Product Management Intern specializing in data analysis. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with the Product Management team to analyze data related to annuity, life insurance, and long-term care products. Qualified candidates should preferably have financial services industry experience (internship, student investment club) or a demonstrated interest in financial services.

    This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, dynamic industry, and will provide valuable networking opportunities as well as the chance to learn from directly from experts in the insurance, wealth management, and financial services industries.

    Interns will be involved in and assist all aspects of the platform including product origination, trading and operations, and product support and sales. The Insurance Solutions group values contributions made by interns and works closely with them to identify areas for further career development.

    Internship Length: 10 weeks

    Start Date: May 28, 2024

    End Date: August 2, 2024

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Collect and analyze data pertaining to annuity, life insurance, and long-term care products.
    • Utilize statistical methods to identify trends, patterns, and key insights, including but not limited to sales and operations.
    • Prepare comprehensive reports and dashboards for the Product Management and senior leadership teams.
    • Demonstrate abilities to manipulate, clean, and visualize data effectively.
    • Develop and maintain spreadsheets for tracking and reporting purposes.
    • Work closely with other groups of the firm such as Marketing, Investment Solutions, and Wealth Planning, to gather relevant data and insights.
    • Document methodologies and processes used in data analysis for future reference.
    • Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    Knowledge of

    • Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Experience in data visualization tools preferred, such as Tableau, Qlik, or Power BI.
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools preferred, such as Python, R, or SQL.
    • Investment concepts, practices, and procedures used in the financial services industry.
    • Financial markets and products.

    Skill In

    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
    • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey complex findings to diverse audiences.
    • Operating standard office equipment and using, or having the ability to learn, required software applications.

    Ability to:

    • Represent the company in a highly professional manner.
    • Attend to detail while maintaining a big picture orientation.
    • Analyze and solve problems.

    Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

    • Pursuing undergraduate or master’s degree in business, finance, or a related field.
    • Expected Graduation Date: May 2025 or earlier.
    • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
