    Internship Program Overview

    Raymond James is the place where good people grow and nowhere is that better demonstrated than in our internship program. During the 9-week immersive experience, you will engage with and implement the firm's core values through our five guiding behaviors. Featuring a comprehensive orientation, onsite and remote training sessions in professional development, networking events, a speaker series, and volunteer opportunities, you will be equipped with knowledge of the business and culture to help you build relationships and develop skillsets for the internship and your future.

    To be eligible for the summer 2024 internship program, you must be a junior or senior standing candidate pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in a business, finance, economics, mathematics, or computer science field with a graduate date of May 2025. Most positions are based in St. Petersburg with other available locations depending on company need.

    Candidates who successfully complete the internship program have the opportunity to transition into a full-time role at Raymond James after graduation.

    Department Overview

    Raymond James Global Wealth Solutions (GWS) provides a leading platform delivering customized planning and investment solutions, investment thought leadership, and strategy. GWS offers comprehensive solutions within every wealth demographic via Investment Strategy, Wealth Planning, Investment Solutions, Insurance Solutions, Capital Markets, Institutional Fiduciary Solutions, and Private Institutional Clients (PIC) to more than 8,000 Financial Advisors. This internship will be supporting the Chief Investment Officer and Chief Economist through market research and analysis.

    The Investment Strategy (IS) team is dedicated to delivering exceptional value to our clients by creating research content, and designing investment strategies that stand the test of time. We combine deep market insights, rigorous analysis, and a client-centric approach to help advisors with their clients' conversations.

    Job Summary:

    You are invited to support the dynamic Investment Strategy team under Chief Investment Officer Larry Adam and Chief Economist Eugenio Alemán, PhD! Help us monitor market dynamics and produce insightful, timely presentations and thought leadership content for advisors and their clients. This role will assist in the creation and promotion of investment strategy resources, including the CIO suite of materials, to convey the views of the Investment Strategy Committee and the "CIO View". Furthermore, this role will also contribute to the development of ad hoc presentations for the Chief Investment Officer to participate at conferences and other client-related events. In addition to assisting the team, the intern will coordinate with marketing and compliance to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of Investment Strategy materials as well as the delivery of materials to advisors and clients with a focus on process and improvement. Finally, this role allows for the creation and development of proprietary Investment Strategy research such as white papers and presentations.

    Internship Length: 9 weeks

    Start Date: May 28, 2024

    End Date: August 2, 2024

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Conduct thorough research and analysis of financial markets, industries, and investment opportunities.
    • Assist in the development and implementation of investment strategies.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to stay informed about market developments and macroeconomic trends.
    • Create economic and statistical models using Python, R, and/or EViews. Assist in the creation, updating, and distribution of IS publications and presentations, including the CIO Suite of materials, by gathering and analyzing data, and creating infographics.
    • Assist in the development of timely IS materials and liaison with Marketing and Compliance to distribute to all relevant channels to maximize reach.
    • Research and develop relevant Investment Strategy materials such as white papers and presentations.
    • Research and implement new technologies and media outlets to improve current processes and increase social media reach.
    • Support advisor and branch professional education by participating in AMP events, branch professional showcases, etc.
    • Assist in the promotion and maintenance of IS materials on RJnet, RJ.com, and the IS email distribution list. Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of:

    • Social media outlets such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.
    • Company’s working structure, policies, mission, strategies, and compliance guidelines.
    • Economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, and the overall investment industry.
    • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Economic/financial market cycles and modeling.
    • Familiarity with key economic data reports (CPI, PPI, PCE, etc.) and their significance.
    • Fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of a professional office environment.
    • Basic concepts, principles, and practices of an assigned business unit.
    • Knowledge of research tools such as FactSet and Bloomberg preferred.
    • Graphic design tools such as InDesign and Photoshop preferred.

    Skill in:

    • Strong work ethic, commitment to deadlines and strong attention to details.
    • Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, spreadsheets, and databases.
    • Strong communication skill set, particularly intrapersonal communication.
    • Preparing clear, effective, and professional presentations.
    • Identifies the needs of advisors and clients through effective questioning and listening techniques.
    • Creative and concise writing.
    • Operating standard office equipment and using, or having the ability to learn, required software applications.

    Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

    • Pursuing undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, and/or Computer science with a graduate date of May 2025.
    • Certifications and/or experience in Python, R, E-views preferred.
    • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
