    Internship Program Overview

    Raymond James is the place where good people grow and nowhere is that better demonstrated than in our internship program. During the 9-week immersive experience, you will engage with and implement the firm's core values through our five guiding behaviors. Featuring a comprehensive orientation, onsite and remote training sessions in professional development, networking events, a speaker series, and volunteer opportunities, you will be equipped with knowledge of the business and culture to help you build relationships and develop skillsets for the internship and your future.

    To be eligible for the summer 2024 internship program, you must be a junior or senior standing candidate pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in a business or finance field with a graduate date of May 2025. Most positions are based in St. Petersburg with other available locations depending on company need.

    Candidates who successfully complete the internship program have the opportunity to transition into a full-time role at Raymond James after graduation.

    Department Overview

    Mutual Fund & ETF Research is responsible for helping advisors and their clients make informed decisions by providing thorough, unbiased, easy-to-understand mutual fund & ETF research and recommendations. This internship will be supporting all teams within the department, which includes Analysts, Product Specialists, and Product Partner Relations.

    Job Summary:

    The Mutual Fund & ETF Research group is seeking an undergraduate or master's degree candidate to support our team. Qualified candidates should have financial services industry experience (internship, student investment club, or demonstrated interest in markets) and maintain strong academic standing.

    An internship with the Mutual Fund & ETF Research group will give you hands-on experience, valuable networking opportunities, as well as the chance to learn from experts in the wealth management, asset management, and financial services industries. Interns will be involved in and assist with all responsibilities of the department, which includes product due diligence and onboarding, regulatory and business development projects, product research and commentary, and product education.

    Internship Length: 9 weeks

    Start Date: May 28, 2024

    End Date: August 2, 2024

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Analyzing the investment merits and risks of traditional investments, including but not limited to domestic, international, global, and sector equity funds, and government, municipal, corporate, and international fixed income funds.
    • Provide general education, product specific education, and support on client cases in a manner consistent with the conservative nature of the firm.
    • Conducting due diligence for existing and prospective investment products.
    • Communicates with internal educational departments to determine the educational needs of the financial advisors and the appropriate programs related to those needs.
    • Collaborates with internal departments to promote educational programs to the financial advisors and their support staff.
    • Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications. Provides reporting information to product partner companies upon request.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of:

    • Investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry.
    • Principles of banking & finance and securities industry operations including finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
    • Financial markets and products.
    • Macro and microeconomics and their impact on investment strategies.
    • Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a professional office environment.
    • Basic concepts, principles and practices of an assigned business unit.

    Skill in:

    • Organizing, managing, and tracking multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.
    • Cultivating and maintaining effective working relationships.
    • Preparing and delivering clear, effective, and professional presentations.
    • Identifying the needs of customers through effective questioning and listening techniques.
    • Follow-up to ensure resolution and completion of tasks.
    • Operating standard office equipment and using, or have the ability to learn, required software applications.

    Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

    • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in business or finance with a completion of May 2025 or sooner.
    • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
