    Internship Program Overview

    Raymond James is the place where good people grow and nowhere is that better demonstrated than in our internship program. During the 9-week immersive experience, you will engage with and implement the firm’s core values through our five guiding behaviors. Featuring a comprehensive orientation, onsite and remote training sessions in professional development, networking events, a speaker series, and volunteer opportunities, you will be equipped with knowledge of the business and culture to help you build relationships and develop skillsets for the internship and your future.

    To be eligible for the summer 2024 internship program, you must be a junior or senior standing candidate pursuing a bachelor's or master’s degree in a business or finance field with a graduate date of May 2025. Most positions are based in St. Petersburg with other available locations depending on company needs.

    Candidates who successfully complete the internship program have the opportunity to transition into a full-time role at Raymond James after graduation.

    Department Overview

    The Wealth Planning division of Raymond James provides the planning resources and expertise financial advisors need to serve their clients. Whether Raymond James Financial Advisors are helping clients plan for retirement, address sophisticated investment objectives, or plan their estate, the Wealth Planning team provides the tools and resources our Financial Advisors need.

    The Wealth Planning team is the starting place for our Financial Advisors when seeking answers on everything from Social Security and Medicare to education and estate planning. Beyond the support of a knowledgeable team, the Wealth Planning department also supports the technology that reinforces the value our Advisors provide to their clients.

    The department includes our financial planning software support team, our financial planning consulting team, a paraplanning team, private wealth consultants, private wealth portfolio consultants, private wealth strategists, and our longevity planning team of experts.

    Job Summary:

    The Wealth Planning department is seeking an undergraduate candidate to support our team. Interns will learn the financial planning software that Raymond James Financial Advisors use with their clients, work on a competitive analysis project for our specific department, work on a larger-scale group project with interns from other departments, develop presentation skills, and network throughout the firm.

    An internship with the Wealth Planning department will give you hands-on experience in the field of financial planning, valuable networking opportunities, as well as the chance to learn from experts in the financial services industry.

    Internship Length: 9 weeks

    Start Date: May 28, 2024

    End Date: August 2, 2024

    Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, up to 40 hours per week

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Master financial planning software and present to financial plan to senior members of team.
    • Research competitive analysis issue as decided by direct supervisor, present findings to senior members of the team.
    • Network with Wealth Planning team members, attend team meetings, and support them in daily work with Financial Advisors as decided upon by direct supervisor and as appropriate.
    • Participate in large group research project and participate in presentation to management.
    • Operates standard office equipment and uses required software applications.
    • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    Knowledge of:

    • Basic mastery of and application of office software.
    • Fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of a professional office environment.
    • Basic concepts, principles and practices of an assigned business unit.

    Skill in:

    • Organization and time management sufficient to prioritize workload, handle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
    • Critical thinking and problem solving with limited supervisory guidance.
    • Communicating effectively and professionally, both orally and in writing.
    • Operating standard office equipment and using, or having the ability to learn, required software applications.

    Ability to:

    • Execute instructions and request clarification when necessary.
    • Organize and prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
    • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    • Work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
    • Provide a high level of customer service.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of the organization.

    Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:

    • Pursing an undergraduate or graduate degree in business or finance with a completion of May 2023 or sooner.
    • Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.
