Job Summary: As an IT Specialist, you will serve as the expert for ALDIs custom developed point-of-sale (POS) software. This position bridges the gap between business teams and international IT, in order to implement and support the applications that help our ALDI store associates and directly impact our customers. The ideal candidate will have IT experience in the retail environment, supporting POS applications, and will have an excellent understanding of database fundamentals. Candidates must have a technical aptitude for troubleshooting software systems and the drive to become an expert in assigned areas of responsibility. Duties and Responsibilities: -Identifies recurring issues in POS software and develops suggested process improvements. -Answers incoming support requests in a timely manner, following the proper processes and procedures for documenting and resolving issues. -Provides support to users and contacts appropriate internal personnel or external vendors when further expertise is required. -Assists with national and international projects related to POS software, including documentation, training, and deployment. -Partners with international IT colleagues to identify, test and deliver software solutions to improve the POS and back office systems. -Performs testing and identifies potential issues in the POS and back office applications. -Participates in the overall maintenance of existing software solutions, including training and the deployment of changes and upgrades. -Organization and tracking of software development by applying project management techniques. -Utilizes change management processes to proactively identify issues impacting time-to-market of new solutions and collaborates with colleagues to overcome obstacles. Skill Requirements: -Bachelors Degree or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge; or relevant ALDI business experience with an exceptional level of demonstrated success. -2 years of experience working with relational databases, especially MS SQL Server or PostgreSQL. -2 years of experience with Microsoft Excel (Advanced Skills). -Experience providing 3rd level support of a customer-facing software, such as point-of-sale applications. -2 years of experience testing software releases. -Experience finding application solutions, with the technical skills to investigate and resolve issues. -PowerShell experience (nice to have). -Skill developing and maintaining positive relationships and the ability to work cooperatively with internal customers, and external vendors or suppliers. -Self-starter and the ability to work independently. -Ability to manage ones time in order to maximize productivity and effectiveness. -Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. -Ability to solve complex problems through research and analysis. -Availability to travel, as needed (up to 5%).
