Quick Stats: Job ID: R10516 Student Internship - In-house Litigation Defense (Open) Summary: Job Description Summary As a legal intern you will assist in establishing and maintaining strategies to meet organizational objectives. Under the direction of a senior level employee or manager you will work on projects that support the business area goals and results. You will also complete tasks using both interpersonal and technical skills appropriate to the specific job assignment, while adapting to new or changing situations in a team environment. Responsibilities: Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements * Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions, support or service * Basic analytical skills. * Basic knowledge and experience working within a team environment. * Basic knowledge of developing and managing project work. Education/Licenses/Designations * Must be in pursuit of a post-secondary degree or certificate during the semester of the internship. * Pursuing post-secondary education in a related major to the internship. Additional Job Information: * The intern will work closely with the attorneys in the office and be responsible for written assignments, including research memos and briefs, assistance with discovery, as well as attendance assignments, such as attending depositions, arbitrations and trials. The intern will be responsible for providing feedback and be a sounding board for case theories and argument. There may also be opportunities to participate in projects within the claims legal division. * 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, hourly. These hours can be flexible. Each day will be filled with intellectual challenges that will help our attorneys and clients move their case through the legal process from beginning to end. The intern will be assigned various tasks along that process and come out after the internship with a sense for the types of assignments and challenges posed by a busy in-house litigation defense office. * Offer to selected candidate will be made contingent on the results of applicable background checks * Offer to selected candidate in contingent on signing a non-disclosure agreement for proprietary information, trade secrets, and inventions Job Description: Primary Accountabilities * Develop an understanding of American Family's business environments, corporate culture and structure to support work initiatives. * Maintain work efficiency and respond positively to a changing environment. * Open to and supports new ideas, systems and procedures.
