We design, engineer, and manufacture proprietary wheel ends, interior plastic components and aluminum castings for the heavy truck market. The position is based at our manufacturing facility in Canton, NC and is open due to internal promotion. Our Canton facility was established in 2004 and supplies injection molded, structural foam, gas counter pressure and highly decorative molded plastic products to large heavy truck OEM's. The plant is located 20 miles west of Asheville in the scenic mountains of Western North Carolina. Position Details The Quality Engineer coordinates quality assurance activities related to product quality. This includes product and process auditing and inspection activities, participation on new product teams, customer communications related to quality issues and leading 8D teams through the problem solving, corrective action process. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: -Coordinates with customers and manages assigned customer deck -Supports program launch and APQP process -Maintains control system documents (i.e. control plans) -Lead corrective action efforts for customer, supplier, and internally identified quality complaints -Standardize work instructions, FMEAs, control systems and traceability systems to improve manufacturing operations -Conduct root cause analysis to identify discrepancies and defects -Develop and implement quality changes and process improvements Education and Experience: -Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering required. -Minimum one-year quality engineering experience required; two plus years preferred -AIAG core tools application knowledge required (PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA) -Plastic molding, assembly and automotive experience a plus -CQE certification preferred -Six Sigma Greenbelt or Blackbelt preferred -Lean Training preferred Compensation & Benefits -Excellent base salary and targeted annual bonus structure -Comprehensive employee benefits package, including medical/dental/vision coverage, life and disability protection, paid vacation time and more -Significant participation in the company's Employee Stock Ownership Program (ESOP) -Company 401k program (with match) -College tuition reimbursement (up to $5,000/year) and internal employee development programs -Gym membership reimbursement (up to $50 per month) ConMet is an Equal Opportunity Employer
