  • Responsibilities
    • CFIBC is a division of Global Banking comprising Capital Financing and Investment Banking Coverage. This includes Equity CFIBC (ECM), Structured Equity Finance (SEF), Debt CFIBC (DCM), Leveraged & Acquisition Finance (LAF), Corporate Risk Solutions (CRS), Strategic Solutions Group (SSG), Issuer Services (ISV) and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A).
    • This is a role reporting to the Head of Business Strategy and Risk (BSR) for CFIBC, Americas.
    • Will be assigned responsibility to cover specific product verticals within CFIBC and will partner with the global product business management teams/leads and regional/global product risk teams.
    • Work with Head BSR CFIBC Americas, and product heads to facilitate the provision of timely and insightful business performance data that supports strategy execution, based on globally consistent metrics and data sources, and informed by local market dynamics and local geopolitical developments
    • Preparation of monthly risk and business performance escalation for global Banking and regional cross line of business governance forums ensuring consistent messaging
    • Oversee effectiveness of Group, GB and MSS aligned support and control functions for CFIBC, including offshore / third party operations, business continuity and resilience
    • Enable ensuring a robust operational risk environment regionally, where the business operates in compliance with all applicable policies, laws and regulations, ensure compliance with regulatory mandated local variances, and apply appropriate and effective governance frameworks
    • Support the adoption of globally consistent policies, procedures and practices, including the adoption of common IT systems working with the team
    • Promote a positive people agenda across CFIBC, one that results in a culture and behaviors that embody HSBC's purpose, values and conduct pillars
    • Focus on outcomes that promote a positive client experience, with a particular focus on ease-of-doing-business
    • Work with global, regional and country colleagues to build a collaborative culture that drives continuous improvement and business innovation, constructively challenging outdated and inefficient practices

    STRATEGY EXECUTION

    • Work with the Head BSR CFIBC, Americas and Product / Regional Heads within CFIBC and relevant regional, coverage and strategy colleagues to align CFIBC' priorities to Global Banking's core strategy and communicate the strategy regionally, across the CFIBC' team
    • Support the execution of the strategy across CFIBC
    • Monitor and report relevant developments relating to market dynamics, peers, benchmarks to help guide and further refine strategic execution within CFIBC, providing ongoing feedback to the global strategy team
    • Ensure strategic alignment of investment in digital and transformation, effectively driving ROI outcomes promised by corresponding business cases
    • Drive collaboration initiatives with selected Global Businesses, notably CMB
    • Ensure our strategy considers, and is aligned with, good conduct outcomes for our clients and the markets in which we operate

    LEADERSHIP AND ENGAGEMENT

    • Supporting the CFIBC leadership in engaging with business heads, functional heads and other key stakeholders
    • Support representation of CFIBC at key governance forums, meetings and events as required.
    • Contribute to build a global community that exemplifies the culture and behaviors promoted by HSBC's purpose, values and conduct pillars
    • Encourage a passion across the CFIBC' businesses for continuous improvement and innovation
    • Help coordinate talent development programs across the business, that celebrate and deliver diverse and inclusive outcomes

    CLIENT EXPERIENCE & DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION

    • Lead client experience and other transformation initiatives Regionally across CFIBC with a focus on technology investment, process improvement and data management
    • Responsible for identifying and implementing further areas of impactful change
    • Engage with key stakeholders including bankers, clients and product leads to prioritize investments that maximize client impact over time.

    BUSINESS PERFORMANCE, ANALYTICS AND MANAGEMENT INFORMATION

    • Responsible for monitoring CFIBC' business performance working closely with the team lead, including performance against the Annual Operating Plan (AOP), intensity measures and missed business process
    • Ensure effective and globally consistent application of business selection processes, pipeline line management and cross business collaborations
    • Responsible for the production of CFIBC 'specific management information, working with Finance, leveraging globally consistent processes, metrics and data sources where available
    • Support Award pitches as needed from time to time

    INVESTMENT, COST AND HEADCOUNT MANAGEMENT

    • Support formulation of the CFIBC regional AOP including revenue targets, workforce plan (FTE) and costs, in collaboration with the regional COS/COO teams
    • Contribute to the design, formulation and implementation of medium term and annual investment plans, across headcount, technology and other areas of investment

    OPERATIONAL RISK AND CONDUCT

    • Establish and maintain a robust and efficient control environment regionally across CFIBC to ensure good operational and financial management as well as compliance with HSBC policy and procedures, together with early identification and effective resolution of issues that arise
    • Implement the risk and control standards for Global Banking, inclusive of applicable, GB & Group policies and controls
    • Oversee all first line of defense activities around Financial Crime Risk and Control, Conduct and Regulatory Compliance
    • Work closely with the Second and Third Line Functions regionally to ensure alignment in the implementation and enforcement of the risk and control framework
    • Lead on the delivery of the Conduct Agenda within CFIBC regionally, working with the Banking COO/BSR/NFR partners, regions and Regulatory Compliance

    GOVERNANCE AND BUSINESS MANAGEMENT

    • Maintain CFIBC' governance structures and ensure consistent application
    • Ensure effective governance structures and processes are in place across all products and regions

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Knowledge of CFIBC preferred
    • Very strong analytical and presentation skills, with excellent grasp of PowerPoint / excel / word and ability to distil large quantities of information into key themes / issues. Follow up on recurring themes from the MI and identify solutions, which are followed through to conclusion
    • Ability to process high volumes of complex information and ability to summarize key themes and issues
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with capacity to work with senior teams and ability to interact at all levels of the organization
    • Be able to work effectively under pressure and with multiple stakeholders and willingness to go the 'extra-mile'
    • Excellent English language capabilities both written and oral
    • Ability to work independently, multi-task, filter information and prioritize multiple demands
    • The role holder would benefit from experience in one or more of the following business lines; GB, CMB. Also, it would be advantageous to have a working knowledge of products and client propositions across these businesses
