Business Unit Overview:
The Financial Modeling Group (FMG) is responsible for the research and development of financial models underpinning the risk management and relative value analytics produced at BlackRock. Our group also contributes to the infrastructure platform for the production of analytics and the delivery of analytic content to portfolio and risk management professionals both within and outside BlackRock. Given the diversity of business objectives among our clients and within BlackRock itself, the models developed and supported by our team span a wide array of financial products, ranging from equity to fixed income to derivatives. In addition, our team members seek to provide analysis and insight on many different levels from analysis of the cash flows of a single bond to the overall financial risk associated with an entire portfolio, enterprise or balance sheet.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will be involved in the design and development of analytical models and methodologies used in investment process and portfolio risk management as well as maintain and support existing models and applications. The candidate will be performing the following duties:
Conducting empirical research and calibrating statistical models for corporate credit products
Back testing, documentation and validation of empirical models
Collaborate on papers for publication, presenting original research at industry conferences, and speaking with institutional clients about relevant research
Partner with internal and external clients on model factors, forecasts, performance, strength and weakness, and risk/valuation implications

Organized in carrying out the responsibilities, possess strong time management skills and should be high on focus
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor/Master degree in a technical field (Econometrics, Finance, Math, Statistics, Computer Science and/or Engineering)
0 – 2 years of hands-on experience in financial modeling
Strong programming skills and experience using programming languages (e.g., Python, R, C++) to conduct statistical/econometric analyses
Strong oral and written (English language) communication skills that enable sophisticated ideas to be readily understood by team members and clients
Enthusiasm, flexibility and maturity to adapt to the needs of a dynamic group and deliver within strict timeframe
