  • Responsibilities

    The Financial Reporting Manager / Head of Financial Reporting will be responsible for establishing and running a financial reporting solution for complex fund structures and ensuring all regulatory reporting requirements of Virtus’ client base is met. The person should have experience drafting financial statements and running a team/group responsible for this. He/she will have a good understanding of building out financial reporting solutions through the use of technology and be focused on keeping up to date with the latest financial reporting issues/guidances etc. and subsequently enhancing the controls and templates accordingly. There will also be a focus on regulatory reporting and the person will help build and design solutions for new and ongoing reporting requirements of our clients and their investor.

     

    Writing accounting policies processes and procedures, Preparation and maintenance of the firm’s Own Funds Plan, Wind Down Plan and other relevant statutorily mandated plans.

     

    This is a PCF* role and the successful candidate will be required the prior written approval of the Central Bank of Ireland.

    (*Pre-approval controlled functions )

    • Assist in year-end audit by providing backup documentation for sampling selected by client's auditors.
    • Setup financial reporting templates under a variety of GAAPs including IFRS, Lux GAAP & US GAAP.
    • Work closely with the Head of Fund Accounting and the conducting officers in Luxembourg to ensure a scalable and accurate solution for financial statement preparation.
    • Prepare pro-forma financial statement templates & management accounts for upcoming year ends reporting.
    • Coordinate and liaise with clients and auditors at year end to deliver a complete set of financial statements.
    • Assist in the preparation and delivery of regulatory reporting for our client base for various regulatory entities.
    • Work well in a team environment to achieve common goals
    • Cross-train on financial reporting and regulatory reporting models.

    Required Skills

    TECHNICAL OR ADMINISTRATIVE KNOWLEDGE:

     

    • Highly proficient with Microsoft software
    • Advanced Excel skills required
    • Knowledge of financial instruments and fixed income assets (including bank debt) is desirable
    • Knowledge and experience in preparing financial statements and pro-forma templates under IFRS, US GAAP, Lux GAAP.
    • Working knowledge of accounting systems (Geneva, VPM)
    • Familiarity with open ended & closed ended alternative investment funds and liquid/illiquid trading strategies

     

    SPECIAL SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES:

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Ability to stay up to date with the latest accounting policies for the treatment within financial reporting by attending various conferences and liaising with counsel and the big 4.
    • Ability to direct junior resources and manage teams
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without constant supervision
    • Exercises independent judgment and multi-task oriented
    • Takes initiative and ownership of job responsibilities
    • Must be able to perform essential job duties accurately and timely
    • Must adhere to deadlines and targets given

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION/TRAINING (OR EQUIVALENT):

     

    • Bachelor’s Degree required in Accounting, Finance or Economics Degree
    • Candidate would be ACCA/CMA/ACA qualified.

     

    EXPERIENCE (TYPE OF WORK EXPERIENCE, MINIMUM NUMBER OF YEARS):

     

    • Minimum 5+ years of previous financial reporting experience with hedge fund or hedge fund administrator.
