ROLE: DB DEVELOPER/ DATABASE MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT
MS SQL DEVELOPER/ MYSQL DEVELOPER

LOCATION: WASHINGTON, DC
· Provide O&M support of the various MS SQL, MySQL, and Oracle databases deployed on Department hosted systems.
· Plan database upgrades by maintaining, evaluating, and improving the transaction processing model.
· Support database performance by monitoring database performance; evaluating and resolving processing and programming problems; operating database management tools; answering Department system owner questions as required.
· Assess database performance and is required to work with other Department of Education support to developing a protocol for measuring the performance results and identification of problem areas.
· Secure database by preparing access and control policies and procedures; implementing disaster recovery procedures where required.
· Support application design by contributing expertise to applications, operations, and technical support teams.
· Accomplish information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
· Provide security Vulnerability Remediation as required across the hosted database systems. The vulnerabilities remediated will not be only database patching and remediation related in nature.
· Set up new databases in Dev, Test, Production, and DR as needed by Department System Owners
· Restore (refresh) a copy of the Production database to a different (lower) environment
· Provide a copy of the Production database for offsite development efforts
· Take full database backups when changes to application need to be made
· Deploy application code to database servers
· Run ad-hoc (often corrective) SQL scripts and report the script's outcome to the requestor
· Create/update developer permissions on databases
