    Private Bank Associate Development Program

With locations in Newton, MA, Palo Alto, CA and Menlo Park, CA, the Private Bank Associate Development Program is a subset of SVB’s larger Associate Development Program. This focused program hires entry-level associates to develop skills and techniques for underwriting and assessing the risk profile of high net worth individuals. The program involves rotational experience within multiple Private Bank teams with some exposure to the commercial lending teams to provide a rounded experience for the Associate. At the end of the development program, the Associate joins a team within SVB Private Bank instantly leveraging skills and tools learned in this program.

    Training

The foundation of the Private Bank Associate Development Program is our hands-on training curriculum. It’s a building-block approach to develop the skills you’ll need to support our dynamic and rapidly growing clients. The training consists of a combination of classroom-style instruction intermixed with case-study based exercises and live work with our various in-house facilitators. The first 4 – 5 months you’ll learn foundational skills that focus on understanding the unique business models of our clients. With these skills in place, you’ll develop and deliver solutions uniquely tailored to both rapidly growing startups and public companies in the innovation economy.

    Rotations

Following training, you will be imbedded with SVB Private Bank units to receive hands-on training in areas such as credit risk assessment, loan portfolio management and client engagement.  You’ll collaborate with both internal and client-facing teams to complete work, develop skills to take on additional responsibilities and hone interests in sectors you can join once the program has been completed.

    Life in the Development Program

While in the Private Bank Associate Development Program you’ll assist in managing all aspects of teams’ client portfolios. Responsibilities will include assessing and monitoring credit risk, underwriting a wide variety of credit facilities, and gaining an understanding of various bank’s sectors, products and services. You will be guided by a management team that has sat in your chair and has decades of collective experience. Significant 1:1 mentorship every step of the way will help you develop the technical and soft skills for a successful career.
