  • Responsibilities

    The job holder will be a key member of the Regional Correspondent Banking and Affiliates Team, responsible for transactional activity reports and analysis for historic transaction activity for financial crime risks. The Associate will provide support on a variety of topics related to financial crime risk for Affiliates and Correspondent Banking in the Americas, including governance meetings and regulatory requests. The Associate will identify exceptions and trends that would alert the business to any associated financial crime risks.

    Overall responsibility for the Associate includes the coordination and resolution of affiliate transactional and FCR issues and requests.

    Primary day-to-day responsibilities include:

    • Create the HSBC Affiliate Transactional Activity reports.
    • Serve as a key point of accountability for research and analysis associated with HSBC's Affiliate activities and exposure to global financial crime risks.
    • Provide significant intelligence overlay to basic research findings and large data sets, drawing upon specific country expertise, and researching financial crime, reputational and political issues.
    • Review Transactional MI, transactional summaries and consolidated views of transactions.
    • Develop and execute varied analytical and statistical models
    • Contribute to refinement of definition of transactional variances and required escalation and decisioning activity
    • Develop and provide Management Information
    • Work closely with Group Affiliate Relationship Management in supporting analytics on affiliate transaction activity.
    • Assist with the completion of the relevant Affiliate AML Questionnaires, including Correspondent Banking Due Diligence Questionnaire ('CBDDQ') and the ADD supplement,
    • Escalation of Request(s) for Information (RFIs) non responsiveness if required,
    • Support the collation of materials (FCR and business inputs) for the HNAH Affiliate Working Group, and other governance forums as required,
    • Participate in and contribute to strategic projects; seeking improvement opportunities within the ARM processes and in the Affiliate portfolio across the Americas.

    OPERATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS & CONTROL

    • Ensure that affiliate and correspondent banking business is conducted in accordance with the regulatory requirements, the GBM Global Line of Business policy and the relevant procedures. The key principle is that Affiliate - Affiliate relationships are managed on an arm's length, professional basis, to a least the same standard as a third party client relationship.
    • To implement the Group compliance policy locally by containing compliance risk in liaison with the Head of Group Compliance, Global Business Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer or Local Compliance Officer, ensuring adequate compliance resources and training, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.
    • Complete training and compliance responsibilities, as assigned.

    MAJOR CHALLENGES

    • Understanding complex Affiliate relationships and activities,
    • A fast paced environment with time sensitive requests,
    • Analysing MI, transactions from different sources, and information on trigger events and escalating unusual activity,
    • Detailed understanding of Affiliate risk, including relevant products, and actions required to mitigate risk,
    • Managing complex data and volumes.

    ROLE CONTEXT

    • This role is created to improve control and oversight of HSBC Affiliate relationships, financial crime risks. It provides an opportunity to work across a broad spectrum of processes and with senior stakeholders to effectively manage the due diligence of all HSBC Affiliates,
    • The role holder will take direction from in country and regional management. They will be expected to adopt a flexible approach to work and maintain an outstanding level of professionalism and conduct,
    • The job holder needs to provide quality and timely analysis to the Group Affiliate Relationship Management team. The individual must be seen as responsive and supportive, but also ensure diligence and quality is demonstrated,
    • Comfort with use of Excel will be useful, as the role reviews significant volumes of transactional data.

    MANAGEMENT OF RISK

    • Identification of Operational, Financial Crime and Reputational Risks and the ability to mitigate these risks by creating an action plan,
    • Maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators,
    • Understand, follow and demonstrate compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business in which the jobholder is involved, specifically Internal Controls and any Compliance policy including the Group Compliance policy,
    • Continually reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, considering changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, or operating procedures and practices.

    QUALIFICATIONS:
