Specimen Processor - Full Time - Evenings - Needham Lab Atrius Health is the Northeasts largest nonprofit independent multi-specialty medical group. We currently have a position for a full time specimen processor to work the evening shift in our state of the art Needham laboratory. The Specimen Processor oversees the in-house handling of laboratory specimens, preparation and transportation of specimens to vendor laboratories and problem resolution/tracking of pending tests. This position is responsible for day-to- day problem solving concerning specimens sent to vendor laboratories. You will maintain documentation of problems and resolutions, identifiy/address recurrent problems or bring to attention of supervisor. The specimen processor notifies clinician of problems, and if necessary, and calls patients when instructed to do so. You will perform Point of Care Testing on patients; classified as moderately complex testing, utilizing a test kit or lab instrument as well as perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of the device. The experienced specimen processor has knowledge of reagent stability and storage and follows quality control procedures. You understand factors influencing test results and provide valid patient test results with QC before reporting. Education: High School graduate or equivalent plus additional college courses in Biology and Chemistry required. Associates degree or equivalent preferred. Skills and Experience: Minimum of one year lab experience required. Excellent customer service skills and experience as well as computer proficiency a must.
