    WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in our Plano, TX office. Seeking a detail-oriented tax professional who will administer and coordinate all aspects of the company’s state and local taxation and compliance, including sales/use and property. Provide support in the areas of payroll tax and business/professional licensing. Serves as primary liaison for the company with its external income tax firm. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

    WHAT YOU WILL DO:

    • Accumulate, analyze, and process financial accounting data in order to prepare and file sales/use and property tax returns, process tax payments, and prepare forecasts and financial accounting tax estimates.
    • Complete all required tax filings in a timely manner.
    • Gather information and draft responses for various IRS and state tax notices, as needed.
    • Coordinate audits by various taxation authorities, and negotiate with them over tax payment issues, as appropriate.
    • Ensure adherence to compliance-related deadlines such as extensions, tax estimate requirements, tax return filings, and other tax-related services.
    • Work with external tax firm on research and development credits and tax nexus studies.
    • Understand and research basic to moderately complex tax concepts and their application to company situations, and communicate results to CFO, Controller, and other leadership.
    • Develop new and enhance existing tax processes, such as tax calendars, research tools, and training.
    • Update job knowledge by participating in training seminars and webinars.
    • Create a corporate tax database, and update it as needed for tax rates and other changes.
    • Coordinate outsourced tax preparation work, including income tax filings and year-end tax provision.
    • Support Payroll and Benefits Coordinator to ensure accurate and efficient payroll tax processes.
    • Serve as primary contact with Legal teams maintaining the company’s business and professional licensing.

    Required Skills Required Experience

     

    • 3+ years of state and local tax accounting experience.
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred, or a tax concentration within an accounting program.
    • Must be detail-oriented, and deadline driven.
    • Knowledge of accounting procedures.
    • Familiar with accounting software systems (Deltek Vantagepoint preferred).
    • Strong Microsoft Office applications knowledge.
    • Effective written and verbal communication.
    • Independent judgment is essential.

  • Qualifications
    • Project management of new product introductions (NPI).
    • Review and execute on all Operations specific requirements per customer contract.
    • Plan and execute development (NPI) builds and ensure these products transition to production per schedule requirements.
    • Responsible for ensuring quality and on time delivery of subcontract suppliers.
    • Drive NPI scheduling and readiness with internal teams (gate reviews).
    • Analyze and define supplier requirements to build end-to-end processes and systems for sustaining and NPI.
    • Manage and monitor deliverables from subcontract suppliers.
    • Support all ongoing program communications.
    • Support key management initiatives for new programs ensuring service readiness and provide recovery reporting when necessary.
    • Represent manufacturing operations, procurement, and present program status and risk in monthly review to operations management.
    • Drive the completion of supplier involved tasks, relaying internal technical questions, and a demonstrated ability to organize and achieve operational timelines.
