In its Corporate & Institutional Banking and International Financial Services activities, BNP Paribas also enjoys top positions in Europe, a strong presence in the Americas as well as a solid and fast-growing business in Asia-Pacific. www.cib.bnpparibas.com __ Business Overview: Americas Compliance is an independent governance function headed up by the Managing Director and Chief Compliance Officer for the Americas (Americas CCO) based in New York with responsibility for all Compliance activities in the United States (comprised of business lines rolling up to International Financial Services (IFS) and CIB) and CIB activities in Canada and Latin America. Reporting directly into the Americas CCO is the Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Americas Compliance. The COO is, among other things, responsible for financial planning, budgeting and forecasting activities for the Americas Compliance ring-fenced budget. _Responsibilities: _ The successful candidate will be a part of the Americas CIB Compliance functional controllers team. The individuals responsibilities will include, but not limited to, monitoring direct expenses, be an integral part of the budgeting/forecasting process, as well as review and revise expense allocation keys that are used to recharge Americas CIB Compliance costs to businesses. He/she will report to the Americas Compliance CIB Functional Controller supporting CIB and work together with the BoW Controller and colleagues in the areas of headcount, expense review and analysis, and variety of ad-hoc requests pertaining to financial reporting and analysis and creating consolidated view for the Americas (including IHC) Compliance expenses and other relevant financial data. In addition, the specific facets of the role include, but are not limited to: * Continuing to maintain and build upon existing relationships with Finance (both locally with CIB Finance and globally with Compliance Finance in Paris) as well as HR locally and in Paris. These key relationships will help ensure financial data is accurate, complete and transparent and give rise to efficiencies across numerous tasks * Working closely with Human Resources professionals in the Americas in support of recruiting, hiring, and incentive compensation efforts by being the central point of contact in executing day-to-day personnel-related matters * Working closely with US CIB Finance, creating and managing the Americas CIB Compliance budget (direct operating expenses) and contributing to all financial aspects of the Americas CIB Compliance project (including and driven by IT investments) portfolio all the while ensuring costs and investments are differentiated and optimized * Liaising with the IT managers to understand the costs associated with individual projects and ensure that project costs are in line with the allotted budget and time dedicated for completion * Ensuring headcount (e.g., FTEs, VIEs, interns, etc.) analyses are comprised of data which is accurate and complete and is produced in a timely fashion and performing analyses including citing where unfavorable trends need to be escalated and included in Americas CIB Compliance reporting * Reviewing direct operating expense and project costing reports citing unfavorable trends and variances and reporting on same as well as making recommendations on how to remedy such trends and in this regard capturing negative trends (if any) early in the process and ensure to understand root causes and propose an action plan to remedy the situations * As a part of month end process, reviewing the costs and deriving accruals; reviewing prior months accruals for payments posted to the general ledger * Overseeing the inter-entity billing process with resources located in other entities (e.g., ISPL, BoW, IHC, etc.); working with Finance to set up monthly cash settlements to record invoicing and accruals * Assisting with allocation key maintenance, implementation of changes, documenting allocation methodologies, and participating in discussions between cost owners and the businesses * Maintaining the tools to keep routine tasks automated to reduce reconciliation time and as part of the financial reviewing and monitoring of cost accuracy, provide reclassifications to CIB Finance for costs and HR for FTEs Minimum Required Qualifications * Undergraduate degree with a preferred emphasis in Accounting, Finance or Business Management (or related discipline) * 3 to 5 years of experience in Finance or Finance-related position with a particular emphasis on management reporting and analysis including FTEs, direct operating expenses, and project costing * Strong knowledge of financial control framework related aspects of Finance function * Strong knowledge of finance and accounting concepts from a financial control standpoint * Knowledge of banking operations in general; familiarity with Compliance-related topics would be a significant plus * Strong problem solving skills * Aptitude to use logical analysis and conceptual thinking to resolve problems * Creativity in developing new ideas and approaches * Superior quantitative and analytical skills * Advanced Excel skills (SQL, Access, Tableau a plus) _Preferred Qualifications: _ * Experience in managing critical and time-sensitive projects/tasks
