Product, Practice and Knowledge (PPK) Group Overview: Over the past two decades, Bains Industry and Capability areas of expertise have formalized into Practices, integral to how Bain delivers results to its clients. The Practice business is led day-to-day by dedicated Practice Managers, Practice Consultants, and Knowledge Specialists (KSs). Together they collectively identify, create and leverage best of Bain content, expertise, and commercial strategies. PPK objectives include: Product: Develop and deploy Industry (i.e., Retail, Technology, etc.) and Capability (i.e., Strategy, Performance Improvement, etc.) products based on research and case work Practice: Support Bains capabilities and industries as front-line support for any questions from client development through case end process Knowledge: Manage the process to make client work, IP, and reports available to the Bain community Practice Overview: The Private Equity Group (PEG) Practice is a global practice that helps private equity firms, sovereign wealth funds and other financial investors to realize value across the investment value chainfrom investment strategy, deal generation and screening, through to due diligence and portfolio company value creation. In the past decade, Bain has advised on half of all global buyout transactions valued at more than $500 million. Bains Private Equity practice is more than triple the size of the next largest consulting company serving PE firms. Job Description: The Americas PEG Knowledge Specialist (KS) will work with the practice team to help achieve the Practices annual and longer-term goals. We are looking for a team-oriented individual who has a strong interest in working to optimize knowledge capture operations and can run our end-to-end knowledge management processes. This includes: (1) Providing support to Partners and team members on selling and serving activities; (2) Supporting the creation and codification of leading IP (3) Supporting and upgrading practice management operations / knowledge management systems; (4) Working with the broader PEG team to spearhead strategic and client initiatives. The KS will report to the Americas PEG Sr. Knowledge Specialist (based in California) and will interact with the broader Global PEG practice team and PEG Partners / team members. This position is a full-time, permanent role supporting our Private Equity Practice with a focus on the Americas region. While we are looking for a candidate to help us build the practice long term, there is the expectation of a minimum commitment of 2 years. Over time, the KS is expected to develop knowledge of the private equity sector, and demonstrate a steady upward trajectory in the depth and scope of his/her contributions. Responsibilities Knowledge Specialists play a critical role in supporting Bains ability to deliver outstanding results for our clients. Coordinates and manages the capture and sharing of Bains Private Equity knowledge base. Captures case-related information from client development and case team efforts into Bains global intranet platform. This includes the capture and processing of case summaries, proposals, case examples, capability and product insights, tools and templates, as well as the meta-tagging of case information to facilitate user searching Proactively reaches out to client case teams and practice affiliates to understand work and solicit best content to fill ongoing practice content needs Coordinates with other Knowledge Specialists to identify cross practice content priorities and works as part of a team to capture and codify materials Contributes to periodic product updates: identifying priority Bain cases, executing research and analysis, codifying case examples and packaging insights Helps create and package content and insights in a manner consistent with Bains professional standards guidelines Manages, designs and maintains Practice Area site(s) on Bains intranet; ensures newest cases and insights are represented; identifies content gaps Reviews Knowledge Management and other relevant progress metrics to improve how Bain captures and shares its intellectual property (IP) Helps identify leading Bain experts & develop credentials materials on key topics within the practice area Supports the Americas Private Equity Practice Team and works as a member of the global practice teams to assist with global Practice growth and development.
