Job Description

The Purchasing Specialist will work with the robotics team in Maryland Heights to produce an industry leading Robotic solution for the Material Handling Industry. They will utilize the latest technologies to integrate robotics into material handling systems for complex applications. This includes R&D and prototype development to successfully bring new products to market. The process involves understanding the customer's goals and objectives and developing engineered solutions to meet these goals.

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for purchasing and delivering manufacturing materials to the right place at a minimum cost to support the production and project schedules. This person should have experience considering price, quality, availability, reliability and technical support when choosing suppliers and materials. The procured items range from raw materials, fabricated parts, electrical components, mechanical hardware, and office supplies. Reports directly to Procurement Manager.

JOB FUNCTIONS

· Participates in bi-monthly Purchasing Master Planning

· Get to know current vendors and help develop new sources for materials

· Meet with strategic suppliers to establish a purchasing relationship and to negotiate better prices based on volume/share

· Continuously look for direct material cost savings

· Responsible for tracking all savings negotiated throughout the year

· Receive approval from Project Managers and Operations prior to sending purchase orders to vendors

· Measure suppliers for performance

· Price materials during bidding for Engineers and Manufacturing (quoting)

· Process all purchase requests and track materials to ensure on-time delivery

· Enter new part numbers in ERP system

· Quote/enter/ship parts for current/new customer orders

· Initiate conversation/communicate delivery dates

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

· Less than 10% travel - Travel to visit suppliers as needed

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelors in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, Economics, Logistics, Finance or Accounting
• 1- 5 years Procurement experience preferred
• Strong purchasing and negotiating skills
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Familiarity with ERP Software such as MS AX, SAP or Oracle
• Computer proficiency: MS Office Suite and MS Project
• 1-2 years Industrial Manufacturing industry experience preferred, but not required
• Cumulative cost reductions on purchased items without sacrificing quality
• Ability to meet and communicate the delivery schedule of each project
• Develop strong vendor relationships
• Management of vendor terms and conditions to maintain positive cash flow on projects
• Ability to walk warehouse / manufacturing sites
