    PA ENGAGEMENT ASSOCIATE

    BENEFITS DATA TRUST (BDT) seeks a PA Engagement Associate to cultivate and maintain partnerships in Pittsburgh, PA to deliver smarter ways to access essential benefits and services so people can live healthier, more independent lives. This person will support the PA Engagement Manager as BDT works to expand benefits access in the Pittsburgh area, and will oversee the relationships needed to make BDT's local initiatives successful.

    The PA Engagement Associate is specifically responsible for launching, maintaining, and expanding a benefits access network of Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) that will use BDT's benefits access software to conduct benefits screenings and applications. The PA Engagement Associate will manage communications between the CBO network and BDT headquarters and oversee CBO training, reports, and evaluation.

    The PA Engagement Associate will be based in the Pittsburgh area, and report to the Philadelphia-based PA Engagement Manager. To be successful, the PA Engagement Associate will operate throughout Pittsburgh and the surrounding areas and will travel to BDT's office in Philadelphia for orientation and as needed thereafter. This position has the potential to evolve into a full-time role based on the outcomes of this new benefits access network.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Strategically scout and interest CBO's in joining and participating in a network utilizing BDT's tech-enabled benefit access tool
    • Facilitate the convening of all CBO partners around creating goals, sharing best practices, creating and implementing benchmarks for success, and developing a sense of community
    • Support peer-to-peer learning by planning and facilitating regular meetings with the CBO network, including training on benefits, processes, and enrollment software; plan and coordinate presentations from community or city agency partners or other resources. Serve as a resource to partners on public benefits, local community resources, and BDT's enrollment software
    • Prepare reports identifying CBO's strengths, challenges, new opportunities, and improvements as relates to their use of BDT's tools and overall benefits access work.
    • Serve as a conduit between the CBOs and BDT to ensure that challenges and opportunities associated with the software or other peer learnings are shared
    • Facilitate, participate in or coordinate the CBO network's presence in community outreach events, conferences and community meetings aimed at educating the public about benefit programs and the services available through the CBO network/tool
    • Assist in providing content for proposals, fact sheets, presentations, blogs, etc. for a range of audiences
    • Engage and support BDT's existing partnerships and projects with government, philanthropy and more within Southwestern Pennsylvania, in collaboration with the PA Engagement Manager

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • At least five years of professional experience in community organizing, business development, or entrepreneurship and/or providing technical assistance or coaching other people.
    • Must show deep connection and experience working with vulnerable populations in the Pittsburgh area.
    • Knowledge or familiarity of the public benefits landscape preferred
    • Able and comfortable spending up to 75% of their time traveling to meet with partners and community members in the region.
    • High level of organizational skills, ability to multi-task, and detail-oriented
    • Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to draft and edit a wide variety of materials, including but not limited to introductory emails, presentation slides, minutes, and program reports.
    • Superior oral communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information to a variety of audiences.
    • Proven experience being an active listener while comfortable challenging people to think differently.
    • Ability to change courses quickly and adapt to tight deadlines.
    • Proficient in MS Office as well as the ability to learn new tools
