    PENNSYLVANIA ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

    BENEFITS DATA TRUST (BDT) seeks a Pennsylvania Engagement Coordinator to cultivate and maintain partnerships to deliver smarter ways to access essential benefits and services so people can live healthier, more independent lives. The PA Engagement Coordinator is responsible for supporting the Pennsylvania Engagement Manager in deepening and expanding a benefits access network in the Greater Philadelphia region and overseeing the services and tools BDT provides to make the network successful. BDT has a broad vision for combating poverty in Philadelphia by transforming how residents access benefits, and the PA Engagement Coordinator will play a critical role in advancing that strategic vision.

    The PA Engagement Coordinator's primary responsibility will be to oversee daily operations of BenePhilly, a robust benefits access network funded in partnership with the City of Philadelphia's Office of Community Empowerment and Opportunity that helps Philadelphians apply for federal, state and local benefit programs. This role will work closely with our network of partners by supporting the adoption of BDT's benefits access technologies and facilitating regular meetings, presentations, and information exchanges across the network. They will assist this network with training, reporting, and evaluations while supporting ongoing activities in accordance with initiative timeframes and goals.

    Based in our Center City Philadelphia office, the PA Engagement Coordinator will join the Pennsylvania Engagement team consisting of a PA Senior Engagement Manager, PA Engagement Associate, and a PA Engagement Manager.  The PA Engagement Coordinator will report to the Pennsylvania Engagement Manager.

    DUE TO COVID-19, BDT IS OPERATING UNDER A REMOTE-WORKING PROTOCOL, FOLLOWING GOVERNMENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND CDC GUIDELINES. WHILE THIS JOB WILL BEGIN AS FULLY REMOTE, WHEN BDT DETERMINES IT IS SAFE TO DO SO BASED ON PUBLIC HEALTH RECOMMENDATIONS, WE WILL MOVE BACK INTO OUR CENTRE SQUARE OFFICE. AT THAT TIME, ALL PHILADELPHIA-BASED STAFF WILL BE REQUIRED TO TRANSITION BACK INTO THE OFFICE.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support the PA Engagement Manager in strengthening relationships with existing partners, cultivating new partnerships, focusing on City offices and key stakeholders, advocates, and community-based organizations
    • Support peer-to-peer learning across the BenePhilly network by planning and facilitating meetings with partners, including training on benefits, processes, and utilization of our tools
    • Serve as a resource on public benefits, local community resources, and BDT's tools
    • Lead and facilitate meetings with the network, including setting agendas, taking minutes, and following up on all next steps
    • Coordinate BenePhilly's presence in community outreach events, conferences, and community meetings aimed at educating the public about benefit programs and the services available through the network and BDT's tool
    • Conduct site visits to partner agencies to the observe process on an ongoing basis
    • Conduct presentations about BenePhilly to increase project awareness, strengthen additional community partners, identify referral opportunities and learn about other social supports for clients
    • Stay abreast of the benefits access landscape at the state level and build relationships with legislative and state officials, as needed, to meet organizational priorities
    • Maintain knowledge of scopes of work and deliverables with our Philadelphia contracts, coordinate associated implementation plans, and observe goal progress
    • Compose narrative reports summarizing BenePhilly activities and progress for Manager review
    • Assist Manager in providing content for proposals, fact sheets, presentations, blogs, etc. for a range of audiences
    • Support existing partnerships and initiatives with government, philanthropy and more across the state of Pennsylvania as needed

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • At least three years' experience cultivating and managing relationships with government, community-based organizations, healthcare entities or philanthropy
    • Strong oral communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively work with internal and external teams; able to facilitate group discussions and present in front of large audiences
    • Strong writing skills, with the ability to draft and edit a wide variety of materials, including but not limited to emails, presentation slides, minutes, and program narrative reports
    • Ability to project manage and change courses quickly to adapt to new developments and deadlines
    • Proven track record in developing connections with and translating complex content for diverse stakeholders
    • High level of proficiency in MS Office (including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) as well as the ability to learn new program management tools
    • When public health leaders determine it is safe to do so, the ability to travel throughout the region to meet with partners and community members, including some nights and weekends as needed
    • Experience improving the lives of underserved populations in the Philadelphia area
    • Knowledge and familiarity of the public benefits landscape
    • Informal or formal experience training, coaching, or mentoring people on using technology
    • Knowledge and familiarity with the social tech/civic tech landscape
