Confer with other communicators and leaders of assigned divisions to develop messages that will create an understanding of the companys operations, goals, activities and corporate positions to internal and external audiences. Essential Functions: * Serve as the entry point into the corporate communications department for assigned divisions/departments. Lead these divisions/departments to achieve consistent, quality communications while enhancing the companys brand. * Develop network of contacts in assigned divisions/departments in order to effectively work with client areas in message development and delivery using appropriate communication channels. * Lead project planning for multiple communication campaigns. Plan, research, write and coordinate the various communications pieces needed for any given campaign (including newsletter articles, employee communications stories, posters, postcards, news releases, and more). * Coordinate with manager, corporate communications, and other corporate communications specialists to assure that written pieces are provided for all appropriate communication channels in a timely manner. * Support employee communications campaigns through video production as needed. * Manage content for specific subsections of the BlueConnect home page, including but not limited to, surveys, PeopleConnect, factoids, announcements and calendar; in addition, monitor and approve employee comments on news articles. Serve as a general assignment reporter for news articles, and maintain the department's page in a timely manner. * Develop and manage a process for assuring that content on BlueConnect remains current and is periodically reviewed by contributors. * Edit and proofread articles for BlueConnect and other communications pieces submitted by other employees. * Responsible for organizing and maintaining the department's photo archives; assist with photography needs, including taking photos or locating stock photos. * Coordinate with multimedia designers to create any required graphical elements for the campaign, and coordinate with Web and social media teams for appropriate placement of content via those channels. * Interview persons of all levels of responsibility and management to gather information. * Champion and enforce BCBSKS corporate style guidelines and BCBSA graphic style guidelines. * Assist in the preparation and editing of speeches, reports and letters as assigned. * Travel to other buildings required and having a valid drivers license required. * Work is performed in normal office environment. It is necessary to meet daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly time frame constraints. Spend approximately 75% of time using computer. Qualifications * College degree in journalism, communications or related field required. * Required two years proven experience in writing in a variety of styles for various communications channels, working on communication campaigns and editing to Associated Press style. * Experience in intranet communications, video production, photography and/or graphics for video preferred. * Working knowledge of photography and Microsoft Word required; experience with InDesign, PowerPoint and Excel preferred. * Demonstrated ability to write compelling, informative content, and to edit and proofread written documents to corporate and AP Style required. * Organizational, planning and problem-solving skills required.
