    Job Description

    The Business Planning Support Analyst role is responsible for assisting with portfolio management, client onboarding, tracking portfolio credit/regulatory issues and supporting cross-sell opportunities. This role supports the VP and/or Director/Managing Director and involves collaborating with cross-functional SVB teams representing credit cards, letters of credit, foreign exchange, treasury management and Private Banking, with the goal of orchestrating a superior client experience and maximizing support of client relationships.

    Much of the work will be in collaboration with, and usually initiated by, the VP/Director/Managing Director. The candidate should have strong task management, prioritization and project management skills. Interest in the entrepreneurial and technology ecosystem is important; A successful candidate will engage in staying up to date on technology market and sector trends. An interest in finance with some aptitude in understanding basic financial documents (income statement and balance sheet) is a plus. The candidate will utilize critical thinking skills in supporting the VP and Directors/MD on both recommendations and actions pertaining to pipeline and portfolio management.

    Strong written and communication skills are essential. The candidate should approach each client engagement, electronic or live, as an opportunity to advise clients and to improve their business standing through that advice. The Associate will engage in client meetings both with call preparation and in taking notes. We strive to establish ourselves as trusted advisors more than ‘bankers’, and the candidate will engage and build relationships with key client stakeholders to remain well-informed and able to respond to changing circumstances while appropriately balancing client and SVB needs

    Internally, a self-aware approach to engaging with the team, showing respect, follow-up and curiosity towards learning is desired. A self-driven desire to seek out Bank-provided tools and relationships internally and externally will help the candidate succeed. The team will support the candidate with hands on training on the product solution set, regulatory requirements, credit management, processes and systems, and educational and training resources.

    Essential Functions

    10% of Time

    Relationship Management:

    • Support MDs and Directors on delivery of the overall client experience. Which includes assisting with client onboarding, renewal of letters of credit and credit cards, and coordinating internal communications to quickly respond to client inquiries.
    • Works with internal groups to meet deadlines and communicates effectively with the client as part of that process.
    • Helps deal teams with call prep by presenting and aggregating relevant information for calls/visits
    • Attends client meetings with primary responsibility of taking detailed notes
    • Engages with clients on due diligence, regulatory and information completeness requests
    • Assists with credit card management by working with MD to evaluate credit card levels and managing data collection/due diligence on renewals

    Portfolio management:

    • Captures prospect/client information in on boarding process
    • Due diligence, KYC, and credit and other regulatory issues
    • Delivery of core commercial banking products (credit cards, letters of credit, treasury management, foreign exchange, etc) and broader SVB financial services (private bank, wealth advisory, SVB Analytics, regulatory, etc).
    • Focuses on SVB's Success Drivers and Corporate Goals thru relationships and collaboration with appropriate business units in order to help coordinate implementation and booking of new products and services.

    Client and Market Engagement:

    • Assists with expansion of existing relationships with a variety of levels of influencers within the client. This includes but is not limited to, as appropriate, building relationships with client teams and working with appropriate client team members as we expand our working relationship.
    • Builds a network of peers both internally and externally with the tech ecosystem.
    • May attend industry events for further education on the markets and clients that we serve.
    • Works independently and with Sales Operations to identify new prospects and opportunities within the geographic market served by the Associate’s team.

    Travel: Most travel is expected to be within the region with some opportunities to connect with local offices (150 mile radius)

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related experience
    • 2 or more years general work experience
