    Working in Global Servicing and Customer Engagement** (GSCE)** means joining the heart of American Express’s global operations, which sits in our largest division, the Global Servicing Group (GSG). Employing 36,000 staff in 25 countries, no two projects or teams are the same. We deliver extraordinary customer care to card members, merchants, and commercial clients around the world, while providing world-class credit, collections, and fraud services.

    The GSCE Internship will offer you a view of end-to-end business management. Our interns are consultants and project managers, working with leaders to solve some of our most complex business challenges. Our primary goal is to provide the world’s best customer experience every day. GSG focuses on how we deliver differentiated customer servicing, engaging our valued employees, driving revenue growth, and finding efficient ways of doing business. 

    Responsible for your own project over 10 weeks, your contributions will have a direct and measurable impact through identifying process gaps and creating improvement strategies.  

    This is an opportunity for the curious and open-minded. Your work will be diverse; you could be working on colleague motivation, capabilities product management, process engineering, risk, strategy, or customer experience, and a broad range of other possibilities. We’re looking for adaptable team players who enjoy fast-paced work across a variety of operational functions. 

    Our Summer Internship Program is a pipeline into our full-time Talent Rotation Program, a two-year program designed to attract and develop diverse talent to be the future leaders of our organization.

    We will give you ownership of your project, and support you as you participate in the following program of events: 

    • Welcome to American Express through an induction day and training sessions throughout your internship

    • Regular Speaker Series with senior leaders across different business areas 
    • Social and networking events with other interns across the business 
    • Structured performance management process, personal and professional development support, and regular feedback

      

    Skills/Experience

    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and in teams 
    • An ability to communicate and collaborate well with people at all levels 
    • Analytical, with an interest in both quantitative and qualitative analysis  
    • An interest in process improvement and different ways of solving problems 
    • Highly ambitious and results driven with the ability to manage projects and initiatives to completion 
    • The ability to lead and bring others with you

    Requirements/Qualifications

    • Currently enrolled in any full-time undergraduate degree program with a desired GPA 3.2 or higher
    • Students must have a graduation date between December 2022 and June 2023
