What Type of Work Will I Do As an Intern?

Those joining IAG for the summer internship will develop their Auditor of the Future (AotF) skills on our Data Analytics & Innovation Center of Excellence (COE) team. With the COE, you learn how to audit business processes with data, including the ideation of data analytics and analyzing the results of our patented Analytics Control Tests. You will also learn about audit methodology and the American Express business model.

Requirements/Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

• Participate as a key team member on the Data Driven Continuous Auditing Center of Excellence (COE) to support IAG in its Audit NextGen objectives, including but not limited:
  • Assist in the ideation and development of impactful and high-quality analytic control tests
  • Support the execution of top projects/initiatives for the COE as it relates to analytic methodology, platform changes, and/or adoption of analytic approaches
  • Collaborate with audit teams to understand the data behind key processes, risks, and controls to develop analytic control tests and analyze and interpret their results
  • Develop data literacy skills through ongoing professional development
  • Track and monitor progress against analytic control tests and projects assigned
  • Assist in the development and publication of management reporting for data analytics

Qualifications:

• Relevant financial services industry experience and an understanding of related products, services, and/or features
• Desire to develop technology audit and data literacy skills (e.g., technology and data that drives American Express industry leading business processes)
• Pursuing a BA, BS, or equivalent degree in accounting or finance related field; background in information systems, data analytics or information technology would be a plus
• Desire and capacity to break-down a complex problem into components, solve them using data analysis, process knowledge and risk/control knowledge, and communicate data analysis, issues and control recommendations with transparency and integrity
• Strong written and verbal communication skills that deliver quality, actionable and beneficial feedback to management on potential control issues and solutions to close gaps
• Effectively works within a team and across teams in a fast-paced environment to drive business results, utilizing related project management skills, employing creative thinking, and the ability to work on competing priorities
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau and basic coding skills preferred

Salary Range: $24.05 to $63.00 hourly + sign-on bonus
