    POSITION SUMMARY

     

    The Member Relationship Officer will ensure members’ needs are achieved by conducting a thorough financial assessment and recommending the most appropriate products and services that fulfills the member’s immediate and future financial goals. The Member Relationship Officer will assist in generating leads, build new member relationships and maintain existing ones, and provide a great member experience for guest who visit the community financial centers.  As a Member Relationship Officer your role will consist of the following:

     

    • Demonstrate sound judgment when decisioning loan applications by reviewing and underwriting in a clear and detailed authorization.

    • Greet every member and treat them with respect by exceeding their expectations, and thank them for their business.

    • Schedule time on the sales floor leading from the lobby, by greeting members, directing them to the appropriate areas of the Community Financial Center and ensuring that the member’s needs are met.

    • Be respectful and maintain a professional demeanor with co-workers to build a proactive team environment.

    • Work with team to develop an acquisition strategy for new memberships and retention strategy for existing member accounts.

    • Participate in meetings, conference calls and events as assigned.

    • Support and assist team members in order to provide quality member service at all times.

    • Identify, recommend, and sell appropriate GTE Financial products and services to create fully engaged financial relationships in accordance with the business strategy.

    • Work within a teamwork environment to develop an acquisition strategy for new memberships and retention strategy for existing member accounts.

    • Conduct member financial transactions; including:

    Originate, process, and close any consumer loans products. This would also include the demonstration of sound judgment in loan origination by providing clear and detailed recommendations in accordance with underwriting guidelines while maintaining quality standards.

    Mortgages – identifying the right product for the member needs; initialize the process; gather information for the processors and underwriters; establish a consist follow up with internal partners and member(s); provide a good member experience throughout the process.

    New Members – originate new members through various sources to ensure continued growth for the credit union.

    Referrals for the other credit union services:

    • Investment

    • Insurance

    • Business Services

    • Gather information, analyze facts and educate members on appropriate products/services to provide one-point resolution to satisfy their needs.

    • Identify risk for credit union losses through observations of transactions involving potential fraudulent activity.

    • Work with internal business partners to promote organizational strategies.

    • Work in union with the respective Community Development Officers to develop and strengthen relationships within the community and with the community partners (Select Employee Groups).

    • Observe Credit Union guidelines, policies, and procedures in order to adhere to compliance regulations, and security standards.

    • Ensure the completion of regulatory compliance and training specific to sales and service responsibilities for staff.

    • Exhibit a desire for continuous education to ensure personal growth and achievement to better serve our members.

    • Set example of professional behavior and image in keeping with credit union value statement.

    • Participate in meetings, conference calls and events as assigned

    • Adhere to audit/compliance procedures of the Community Financial Center, while maintaining the highest level of service to our members.

    • Must demonstrate a functional knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to other Federal laws, including but not limited to: U.S. Patriot Act, Office of Foreign Assets & Control, Anti-Money Laundering, Right to Financial Privacy Act, and the Bank Bribery Act.

    MEMBER RELATIONSHIP OFFICER – I

    Under Level 1 the Member Relationship Officer will be have the following additional responsibilities and expectations:

    Trained on the following:

    • Consumer Loans (including Home Equities)
    • Mortgages
    • Checking, saving, IRA and shared certificate products

    Understands the fundamental process on the following systems:

    • OSI
    • Meridian Link
    • STAR / MOM

    Level 1 lending authority. (See Consumer Lending Loan Authority Matrix for details)

    Be assigned an NMLS #

    Term for this role – 1 to 24 months.

     

     

     

    OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

     

    • Perform additional duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

     

    • Full-time hours (40) required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals, and projects.

    Required Experience

     

    EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

     

    • High School graduate or equivalent. Associates degree preferred.
    • 1-2 years previous experience in financial industry or related field or a combinations of education and experience.
