Post- secondary law enforcement coursework may substitute for experience Licenses and Certifications Required: Valid drivers license Must be able to obtain successfully complete and pass the City parking enforcement training certification program which includes the application of transportation code, and in passing the course in Verbal Judo within three (3) months of regular employment. Physical Requirements: Requires light physical work with frequent standing and walking, lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs., reaching, bending, and stooping to mark vehicles and field of vision to move quickly or direct traffic and avoid being hit by vehicles. Note: Request that CBI be performed based on contact with the general public which includes vulnerable populations. Office is located in front of Pease Elementary. Notes to Applicants The Parking Enforcement Officer is assigned to areas of the City to enforce parking regulations and enforce local transportation ordinances and state laws governing parking of vehicles; issues citations, enters data into a hand help computer, directs vehicular and pedestrian traffic, writes reports, and responds to citizen complaints ensuring a safe environment for the general public. This position requires applicants with good moral standards to work with the public to enforce parking enforcement laws and city codes. Prefer at least two years of college in a criminal justice or related field and experience. Must bring knowledge and/or interest in code enforcement and parking, enforce local transportation ordinances and state laws governing parking of vehicles or related. Position requires excellent: Computer skills to write and edit reports, etc. Written and verbal skills to talk to the public, prepare reports and respond to public inquiries. Must be able to handle and problem-solve difficult customer service issues related to complaints from the community and citizens. Investigates and resolves parking violation disputes, and involves police in incidents that involve abusive behavior. Credibility to represent the City in court hearings. Works closely with other city and county law enforcement units. Physical Standards: Must be able to walk 7 10 miles a day, requires frequent standing and walking, lifting/carrying objects weighing up to 50 lbs., reaching, bending, and stooping to mark vehicles and field of vision to move quickly or direct traffic and avoid being hit by vehicles. As a civil servant must bring a solid reputation as a worker with good moral character. Must be able to walk up to 7 10 hours a day. Must bring excellent references that demonstrates leadership, difficult problem-solving and some knowledge in the enforcement field.
