    Requisition Number 18-0254 Post Date 1/3/2019 Title Housing Specialist City Happy Valley State OR Description The Housing Specialist provides case management services to individuals involved in drug and alcohol treatment with the purpose of attaining and sustaining housing. This position conducts activities that create rental opportunities and improve the likelihood of successful long-term housing outcomes for individuals in recovery through advocacy, such as tenant education, connecting with drug and alcohol treatment providers, assisting with access to affordable housing, providing eviction prevention services and home visits. In this position, you would fulfill the following essential functions: · Build and maintain positive working relationships with landlords who can provide affordable housing options for individuals in recovery. · Provide program participants with tenant education and connection to other resources that increase understanding of the rental process and obligations as a tenant. · Support access to housing resources by referring individuals to appropriate housing placements and providing assistance completing necessary forms and applications. · Conduct eviction prevention activities including, but not limited to, facilitating regular meetings with landlords, advocating on behalf of program participants and assisting them to remain in compliance with their rental agreement. · Perform home visits and outreach to evaluate ongoing needs for housing stability. · Promote community integration and positive outcomes in the areas housing, employment, education, family and social support and recovery. Requirements This position also requires the following qualifications: · Bachelors degree in psychology, sociology, social work or criminal justice with advanced course work in specific areas leading to an advanced understanding of diagnoses, functional impairments and psychosocial barriers for people with behavioral health disorders. · Minimum 2 years of related experience in a similar setting either working with individuals in recovery or providing case management to individuals seeking housing. · Ability to negotiate housing resources for individuals in recovery from alcohol and drug issues, work collaboratively with landlords and advocate on behalf of individuals in recovery without alienating community partners. · Must meet requirements for a Qualified Mental Health Associate and be certified as a CADC-1 within two years of hire. · Valid Oregon Drivers License All CODA facilities are drug-free and smoke-free worksites. Employees may not be serving any supervised parole or probation. Individuals in recovery from substance use disorders must be able to demonstrate continuous abstinence under independent living conditions for the past 2 years.
