TITLE: RETIREMENT ANALYST/HR COORDINATOR/HUMAN RESOURCE SPECIALIST (PAYROLL) LOCATION: PHILADELPHIA, PA 19130 DURATION: 12 MONTHS  JOB SUMMARY Performs various complex analytical tasks and functions of existing operational and financial management activities for the retirement office. Responds to inquiries from the Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS) and from School District employees. Participates in ensuring that retirement plans maintain full compliance and are administered in accordance with retirement industry best practices. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Processes monthly demographic, contract, and work reports while coordinating with the IT department to make any programmatic changes.
    • Calculates, processes and communicates refunds and payroll deductions for employees who change retirement classes.
    • Reconciles monthly member charges and quarterly employer charges.
    • Calculates and uploads monthly adjustments for retired and active members due to redeposited checks, workers' compensation, and gross balance account adjustments.
    • Analyzes retirement payroll deduction forms, records, reports and workflow for the purpose of accuracy and developing more efficient systems and processes.
    • Collects, reconciles and reviews retirement data; makes recommendations for proactive problem resolution and to improve processes; maintains complete and accurate records.
    • Reviews and interprets laws, rules, policies and procedures and recommends changes to
    • conform to legislation that has been enacted.
    • Prepare reports and create spreadsheets to provide management with timely updates on issues pertaining to the financial aspects of employee retirement benefits.
    • Builds relationships internally and works collaboratively with cross-functional teams to complete tasks and ensure unified delivery of services.
    • Initiates and manages special projects, such as periodic audits.
    • Locates, assembles and reconciles information from various source documents and records utilizing general analytical and arithmetic reasoning.
    • Ensures that retirement inquiries are handled in a courteous and timely manner.
    • Provides support for special projects and assists with other departmental functions as needed.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • The principles and practices of retirement program administration.
    • The principles and practices of Payroll.
    • Analyzing payroll data as it pertains to the calculation of adjustments for
    • Employee deduction rate changes and corrections of retirement contributions.
    • Methodologies utilized in fiscal analysis, and techniques involved in gathering,
    • Analyzing, writing, and editing technical and financial materials.

    ABILITY TO:

    • Analyze data, process documents, interpret findings and effectively communicate across multiple levels of the organization.
    • Use and create spreadsheets and databases from software applications such as, but not limited to, Excel and Access.
    • Prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in order to meet defined departmental goals and deadlines.
    • Interpret special rules and policies and apply them in a variety of procedural situations.
    • Perform advanced computing with reasonable speed and accuracy.
    • Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
    • Prepare and maintain records and reports.
    • Understand and follow written and oral directions.
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, human resources or a related field at an accredited college or university. Two years of full-time, paid, professional experience in retirement benefits administration which has included monitoring and conducting research and analysis of retirement records. OR Associate's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, human resources or a related field at an accredited college or university.
