DESCRIPTION

CME Group is currently looking for a Collateral Risk summer intern.

This candidate will assist the Collateral Risk team on day-to-day activities in support of monitoring credit, collateral, and liquidity risk for the Clearing House. The primary responsibilities of the Intern are to monitor CME Clearing's acceptable collateral and support default management policies and procedures. The Intern will need to identify relevant business, market and other risks faced by CME. A successful candidate will have some knowledge of derivatives, securities, and financial institutions (banks, clearing members, and non-bank participants).

Principal Accountabilities:

• Evaluation of current collateral types and structure, and evaluation of collateral risks presented to CME. Monitor collateral daily and report out notable items to senior management as necessary. Create regulatory reports related to collateral and default management using a standard template.

• Perform market and ad-hoc analysis, including any competitive analysis or key market events and impact to clearing members and market participants. Collaborate with other members on the Credit, Liquidity, and Collateral team to complete ad-hoc analysis and projects.

• Evaluate the collateral profile of CME Clearing's counterparties and monitor markets daily, reporting out notable news items to senior management as necessary.

• Evaluate collateral types, utilize CME Clearing's framework for collateral analysis (credit and liquidity characteristics).

• Identify and implement improvements to CME collateral-based systems.

Skills / Software Requirements:

• Working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite; Bloomberg

• Self-motivated professional

• Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities changes

• Ability to work independently accurately and to meet deadlines

• Must work well in a team environment

• Familiarity with derivatives, securities, and capital markets preferred

Education:

• Currently pursuing a BA/BS in Economics, Finance, Business or related field.
