    WHAT YOU GET TO DO:

    We are looking for an experienced and energetic Compliance Associate, BSA/AML Quality Assurance to join OppFi's expanding and dynamic Compliance Department. The role will report to the BSA Compliance Officer and the main responsibilities are as follows:

    • Review work products from execution of processes and controls in Compliance and the business that support OppFi's Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (“BSA/AML”) & Sanctions Compliance Program and Identity Theft Prevention Program to ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures and external regulatory guidelines and requirements.

    • Develop or enhance existing quality assurance procedures, methodology and documentation to cover key controls and employee performance, and prepare a periodic plan to ensure continuous BSA/AML/Sanctions/Financial Crimes monitoring and testing.

    • Evaluate effectiveness of the BSA and Operations team to ensure that appropriate risks factors were addressed in the decision to substantiate or escalate a potential BSA related incident.

    • Lead and execute the quality assurance plan and identify systematic issues that require attention.

    • Develop and produce monthly and quarterly reports for management, including monitoring, investigation and referral/reporting metrics, the independent assessment the area's performance quality, effectiveness of processes and controls, and root cause analysis to recommend improvements or action plans to remediate any weakness identified.

    • Participate in discussions with Business, Operational, and Compliance teams regarding review results, risks, and solutions to improve quality and consistency.

    • Engage in training event developments to further enhance the staff's understanding of current BSA/AML/Sanctions/Financial Crimes events and/or weaknesses detected within the department.

    • Act as a trusted resource, coach and mentor to management while working closely with a highly collaborative compliance team and other stakeholders in BSA/AML/Sanctions/Financial Crimes and the business to provide guidance and oversight for new initiatives and changes that impact key risk controls, policies, procedures, systems processes and training.

    • Contribute to responses to partner bank and auditor requests about BSA/AML/Sanctions/Financial Crimes controls, policies, procedures and processes.

    • Review and provide feedback on exception requests, new initiatives and business changes submitted to Compliance.

    • Influence business partners to make necessary enhancements to controls, policies and procedures, systems, processes and training.

    • Act as a self-starter on other special projects and tasks for the BSA Compliance team with minimal direction.

    • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of technical BSA/AML/Sanctions/Financial Crimes regulatory and risk management requirements and demonstrates commitment to continuing involvement in training, certification and professional organizational activities.

    • Understands and stays current on Red Flags and industry trends related to AML/BSA/Sanctions and Financial Crimes.

    • Assists with performing annual risk assessments.

    WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TEAM:

    • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Law or a related field. Masters or higher level degree in at least one of these fields preferred.

    • Preferred: Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).

    • 3+ years of direct experience in a BSA/AML/Financial Crimes/Fraud compliance or risk management team at a financial institution working with intelligence and investigative analysis in an investigations/intelligence unit, compliance quality assurance specific to AML/Fraud investigations and control activities, ongoing customer due diligence/enhanced due diligence, automated suspicious activity surveillance systems/solutions, Sanctions/Watchlist risk management and customer scanning, preparation of suspicious activity reports and other written investigative/intelligence work products, and related process and procedure design experience.

    • Strong Knowledge of BSA/AML/Sanctions/Financial Crimes/Fraud compliance, laws and regulations.

    • Understanding of testing and quality assurance standards, processes and techniques.

    • Experience with data analytics, identification of key performance and risk metrics, and management-level reporting of BSA/AML/Sanctions/Financial Crimes/Fraud program metrics.

    • Excellent skills in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, G Suite, and LexisNexis or other related investigative tools. SQL abilities a plus.

    • Demonstrated experience at influencing business partners to make necessary enhancements to controls, policies and procedures, systems, processes and/or training.

    • Knowledge of money laundering techniques/fraud schemes.

    • Proven ability to build strong relationships, working with all levels with both internal and external customers.

    REPORTS TO: BSA COMPLIANCE OFFICER

    JOB LEVEL: ASSOCIATE

    The minimum salary for this role is $68,000 . The total compensation package includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses as well as a 1-time equity grant based on level. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package and benefits, will be at the company's sole discretion, and determined by a myriad of factors including, but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, and other relevant business considerations.
