  • Responsibilities

    The Energy Group is seeking a Houston-based, qualified, motivated Corporate Banking Associate. Prior corporate banking or similar professional experience within the upstream, midstream and/or downstream oil and gas industry is preferred.

    As a cross-product industry team, associates in the Oil & Gas Group work on a variety of transactions including, financial advisory, loan products, acquisition financing, liability management and capital market activities. Associates typically function as members of deal teams comprising a Managing Director, Director - Vice President, Associate, and Analyst, plus technical professionals.

    Associate responsibilities include: valuing oil and gas companies and assets, performing a broad range of other financial analysis; preparing confidential information memoranda, new business pitches, and other presentation materials; assisting with the development and maintenance of client and prospective client relationships; participating and developing materials for internal stakeholders and credit approvers; and supervising analysts and other junior staff.

    Associates are assigned to a variety of projects and other responsibilities include:

    • Conduct extensive quantitative economic, industry and company research and analysis
    • Conduct and model a broad range of corporate finance alternatives and due diligence for client transactions including capital structure development, liability management, acquisition finance and syndicated loan and capital market financing
    • Evaluate risk/return parameters of financing transactions
    • Financial modeling, valuation, comparable & relative value analyses and market-specific analysis
    • Facilitate and coordinate product group idea generation and solutions development across a broad platform of global capabilities
    • Draft client pitches and marketing materials including syndicated bank financing opportunities, public/private debt capital markets, and other internal documentation by coordinating internal and external resources
    • Assist in financing structuring, underwriting transaction evaluation, preparation, due diligence and execution
    • Assist in the development and continued cultivation of client relationships
    • Assist in internal approval process for new credits including onboarding

    Qualifications :

    • Masters and/or Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, or Economics
    • At least two years of prior investment/corporate banking or similar professional experience focused on the oil and gas industry and/or some upstream technical experience is preferred.
    • Knowledge of corporate finance, securities, financial markets and risk & pricing analysis
    • General Energy sector experience is strongly preferred
    • Aptitude to synthesize large amounts of information and develop innovative ideas and/or product solutions
    • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
    • Ability to work under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines
    • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to convey ideas
    • Creativity and intellectual curiosity
    • Ability to work independently and must be able to work effectively in a team environment
    • Proficiency with FactSet, CapitalIQ, Bloomberg, Microsoft Office
    • Series 79 & 63
