    GENERAL SUMMARY:

    The incumbent will work independently and closely with Relationship Managers in their credit risk and relationship management responsibilities, including interaction with clients to ensure timely and accurate response to credit needs. Conducts extensive in-depth company, financial and industry due diligence to evaluate risk/return parameters of financing transactions. Assists with loan management of corporate credits. Performs periodic credit reviews on existing clients as well as supports the origination effort through research, projection modeling, and preparation of proposals.

    Regularly interfaces with clients, relationship managers, credit administrators and internal/external examiners. Coordinates with the Credit Division in HO and NY to obtain proper approvals. Ensures compliance with all applicable internal policies and procedures and regulatory requirements. Conducts special projects as assigned. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    Credit Analyses. Prepares in-depth credit analyses of prospective and existing corporate clients. Duties include: obtaining necessary information from clients; conducting Q&A’s directly with clients, including via in-person meetings; analyzing credit risks of the clients and their industry; understanding business models of each client and preparing financial projections with business appropriate assumptions; preparing credit and rating application packages; presentation of credit applications, obtaining credit approvals; preparing loan documents; and conducting post-execution monitoring. Works closely with RMs to establish appropriate deal structures and terms and conditions. Alerts RMs of any changes in the clients’ financial conditions through on-going monitoring. Post-Execution Control. Checks credit application, credit rating, collateral, guarantee and covenants for maturity. Interfaces with other Bank units as necessary and develops information used in the account administration. Documentation Management. Ensures maintenance of adequate files and records, this includes updating client information system and client files; maintaining credit files and the loan management system. Effectively plans activities, makes needed adjustments to timelines, steps and resource allocation. Plans for contingencies to deal with unexpected events or setbacks. As required, may act as a back-up for any other Credit Analyst. Performs any and all duties of senior/junior staff members as necessary. Cross-trains and trains others on job related duties and assists others with administrative duties as necessary. Assists with departmental projects and performs other duties as assigned.

    SPECIFICATIONS:

    This is a general description which covers all levels/grades of the job. Minimum qualifications as outlined below:

    • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or Economics; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Good understanding of general business and banking products. Good knowledge of corporate credit policies and procedures. Demonstrated credit analysis and accounting skills. Working knowledge of banking regulations.

    • Excellent communication, quantitative, problem solving and decision making skills. Self-driven, motivated and results oriented. Ability to analyze financial issues, provide written narratives in conclusive manner, and coordinate appropriate solutions. Understanding of internal operations, policies and procedures as well as regulations specific to banks. Ability to work under time pressure and short notice due to client needs.

    • Strong customer orientation (internal/external) with proven record of responding promptly to customer needs and with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients and business partners. Interacts effectively with customers and ability to provide a high standard of service excellence. Proven commitment to quality customer service (internal/external).

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective upward and downward communication. Experience writing reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively receive and convey information/ideas in all its forms (verbal, written and non-verbal) and respond to questions from customers, group of managers, regulators, auditors, and employees in a clear and concise way. Fosters open communication; listens actively.

    • Good organization and planning skills. Ability to plan, organize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously despite numerous interruptions. Ability to establish priorities, identify critical tasks and complete projects/tasks accurately and in a timely manner. High level of flexibility and ability to adapt to changing conditions.

    • Strong team orientation. Ability to understand the perspective, priorities and challenges of others. Ability to work cooperatively with other departments (other groups within the department) and across the organization to achieve shared goals. Capable of working independently and in teams to accomplish the goals of the department. Flexibility to work variable hours due to the workflow.

    • Proficient knowledge of Excel, Word and databases.

    • Fluency with Japanese and English
