    Job description:

    At HSBC, the Wholesale Data & Analytics team is part of the Wholesale COO team a key driver in building the bank of the future by streamlining operations, transforming legacy processes and commercializing insights into actionable outcomes. Our team operates in a dynamic setting solving critical business problems and reimagining how we view our operations via a data driven lens.

    We are looking for an outstanding individual who has a demonstrated passion for data & analytics that has picked up the foundational skills and is looking to level up their capabilities and help the team tackle complex problems. We're looking for someone who can look at large data sets and figure how to integrate, transform and refine into meaningful insights via clean code and excellent documentation to help build sustainable, automated processes with smart controls.

    What you may see on a typical day:

    • Ingest raw data files and build data validation scripts to ensure high data quality
    • Connect with stakeholders to translate sophisticated business requests into data requirements and processes to deliver a data driven solution
    • Explain data sources and transformation to a non-technical audience
    • Capture, blend and analyze data from multiple sources to derive valuable insights for partners at different levels of the organization to generate financial capital (revenue growth, capital efficiency, cost savings, etc.)
    • Perform root-cause analysis to identify data quality issues and seek to develop sustainable solutions
    • Operationalize new processes so that they can be maintained in an ongoing and efficient manner
    • Perform ad-hoc assignments, including leading and supporting special projects
    • Work closely with related teams to ensure alignment with broader strategy

    Requirements:

    Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions Please apply if you have:

    • Bachelor's degree from a four-year College/University or 1-3 years of experience in Data Analytics
    • Strong analytical logic and communication skills
    • Willing to learn new skills and use feedback for continual improvement
    • Hands-on experience working on programming languages or database management systems (SQL, Python, R, etc.)
    • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently
    • Must have organization skills to maintain and document projects
    • Experience working with Alteryx and Google Cloud Platform is a plus
