    Job Description

Upon resumption of normal operations, this role may be performed at our New York, New York, Jersey City, New Jersey, Bufffalo, New York or Arlington Hts., Illinois office.

    The Data / Information Modeler is accountable for supporting the Catalogue & Definition functional group in the US Data and Architecture Office (DAO). The role will work closely with the Data Modeling Lead to ensure consistent implementation of the data modeling process, including data identification, prioritization and documentation. The Data Modeler will be responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of data models and metadata requirements that extend, modify, and link to the Firm's enterprise Business Information Model.

    As the Data Modeler, you will represent DAO in all matters related to Data Modeling and will:

    • Actively engage with DAO, GB/GF, and other stakeholders in information requirements elicitation sessions to identify and define metadata, systems, and system lineage (for a given context, "criticality assignment").

    • Develop and maintain Concept Models that integrate with the enterprise Business Information Model.

    • Map data sets, data elements, as well as logical and physical data models, to the Business Information Model.

    • Own and drive extensions and modifications to the enterprise Business Information Model, including attaining data governance review approval.

    • Define and manage business vocabularies, taxonomies, and definitions; monitor completeness and quality of critical metadata.

    • Refine and implement data modeling standards, tools, best practices, and related techniques.

    • Assist in driving a consistent data management approach across the US.

    Requirements

    • 5 + years Data Management and Governance experience, particularly in the areas of Taxonomy Management, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, Data Quality, and Data Protection.

    • 5+ years of experience in Concept Modeling, as well as Conceptual and Logical Data Modeling - ERD and/or UML

    • Strong knowledge of metadata management and associated tools such as Collibra.

    • Experience with defining, implementing and modeling data management and metadata requirements.

    • Experience with data warehouse, data lake, and enterprise big data platforms in multi-data-center contexts.

    • Able to cope with pressure and tight deadlines and be change-oriented

    • Necessity to make robust/tough decisions that may be contrary to others’ wishes and ability to prioritize competing demands.

    • A good knowledge of large global organization and its strategy, internal policies, and procedures is preferable

    • Knowledge of Financial Services Industry models such as FIBO, BIAN, etc. is a plus

    • Familiarity with knowledge graphs, ontologies, etc. is a plus

    • Knowledge of semantic web technologies i.e. RDF, OWL, RDFS, etc. is a plus
